Who's getting one?

My contract with T-Mobile ends on June 18, after which I'm planning on getting one.

I love my BB and I may contract does not run out till later this year.

I'm interested in checking out the device itself, but I have no interest in committing to Sprint as a carrier. Never heard much about its service, but what I do hear is not positive, overall.

I have no problem with Sprint and have had the service for two years. It seems to work better than most other providers across the US (although T-Mobile is better for abroad).

Nothing, and I mean nothing, would make me give up my iPhone.

The Treo was enough to make me never purchase another Palm product. That being said, Verizon is far superior in terms of service. I'm a Blackberry guy, however, if the iPhone was offered for Verizon I would switch.

I hear when Apple's deal with AT&T is over, they'll be switching to Verizon (if not at least adding them as another carrier). We'll see.

I tried out the Pre today at the Sprint store. It's really cool. Not as cool as I expected, but still very cool. The keyboard is great in comparison to the iphone. I never owned an iphone but have tried using friends' iphones and having a physical keyboard is great. The text when browsing is awesome, better than the iphone. Everything is very readable. The images are very clear also. It is pretty glossy and will be annoying to have to wipe off, but pretty much all mobile phones are like that. There was a bit of lag in some interface things and when launching programs. Once the programs are loaded fully everything is very smooth and extremly snappy. It's not as quick as a desktop computer. Perhaps it's because I have a powerful home computer that I was expecting the Pre to be quicker. The mirror on the back of the phone was curved so it distorts the image. That was a surprise. Maybe it was just the floor model I was trying. I also wonder what the battery life really is. I would love to use the device as a PMP and a phone.

Regardless, it's an amazing first generation product with a ton of usable features. It's almost like having a computer.

As soon as they let people with SERO plans keep their current plan, I'll get one. Otherwise, I'll switch and get an iPhone when my SERO k runs out.

SERO rules, but if you want to change to the Pre and still have a good plan, the Employee Referral program still makes Sprint still the best bang for your buck.

Enter: Russ.S.McGuire@Sprint.com and 383

Unlimited data, texts, email, gps and tv with 500 minutes is only 60 bucks. Unlimited everything is only 100 bucks. Compare that with the iphone plans or any other carrier.

True but the SERO people get 500 minutes for $30 and 1200 minutes for $50. I'm with Sprezz; if they come through and let SERO people add it then I'm in. Otherwise, I'll probably jump ship either for iPhone 3.0 in July or Palm Pre v2 on AT&T or Verizon next year.

I don't get it... if you switch to AT&T or Verizon you'll be paying a lot more than Sprint, even without SERO. Why not just keep Sprint?

I'm waiting for the HTC Touch Pro 2 to come to AT&T. I like Windows Mobile (once I've tweaked the shit out of it and installed a bunch of programs cause it sucks royal ass out of the box). I have medical programs for it and I don't know how long they will take to be ported to the WebOS platform on the palm. Plus, no VGA screen = deal breaker for me.

For me, it's because I don't like having things taken away.

It's basically a value trade-off. If I find that the new iPhone is something that I really want, then I'm going to be willing to pay more money to have it. Since nothing as of yet has come along to pique my interest, I'm sticking with my crap Samsung phone and my cheap plan. Having the Palm Pre on my SERO plan would be the best of both worlds.
