Stopped by the Marshall's in Durham, NC this lunch hour and they had around eight pairs of RRL jeans. Mostly straight legs, which are the ones some of you guys were kind enough to recommend for me. The original retail was marked at $285.00 and up, and they were on sale at Marshall's for $45.00. I was lucky enough to find a pair in my size and I loved them. This was the first time I'd really laid eyes on these jeans in person. Japanese denim, made in NYC, very cool. The ones I got are still pretty stiff. Others were more "washed" and stained up. I would pick up some if I could, but am headed out of town. Was this a good find?

UPDATED BULLETIN: Came upon nine or ten pairs of RRL at the Marshall's on Capital Blvd. in Raleigh this afternoon. Waist sizes were 30, 32, 34, 36, lengths 30-34. Same price, $49.00. Two or three were the light rinse wash (stiff), and the others were in various stages of soiling and ripping.

Thanks for the heads up, Lawman. I'll check them out tomorrow. It's nice to have someone on the lookout in my neighborhood

Just curious is this the Marshall's in New Hope Commons?

as someone who just paid $250 for a pair, I'd say yes, $45 was a good deal.

It is the one near the I-40 interchange. I think it is called New Hope Commons. They were out in the front of the mens section with the other Ralph Lauren stuff (polo shirts, mainline khakis, etc.). Nothing else of interest in there that I could see, and those trou were not there Saturday.

YMMV

the ones around me get some occassionally but they are usually nasty ass washed kinds that were from years ago with paper back tags and are even made in Japan! Where does marshalls find this stuff?

rinsed ones are hard to come by especially in a good size - the majority of rrl jeans found their way to marshalls last Fall/Winter and there were tons of raw ones for sale on ebay at any given time in years prior, not so anymore.

Some stores still get small batches from time to time they must scrape up from somewhere but generally dried out since if you look on ebay hardly anyone is selling them with less and less people reporting finding them in outlets, especially raw or rinsed varieties, can't say the same about the ugly washed pairs.

Its' obvious that RRL is running clean these past couple of seasons - overstock is become harder and harder to find.

Lawman - are yours raw/rinsed or some kind of wash? You mentioned they were on sale, they must have been in your store for a while if they were marked down.

These were not there on Saturday, so they have not been there long. The pair I got, and there were two or three of them, look like Levi's shrink to fit that have been soaked and dried. No real fading at all, and they have that indigo smell, like I remember from being a kid when I got new jeans each fall before school started back up. They had two kind of aged looking, linen "pamphlets" attached that talked about the jeans. The other pairs were more washed looking, kind of a mid blue. There was a pair in 36/34 that was still dark, but very soft, and had that kind of tea colored staining on the thighs. A little too hip for my mid 40s self, but pretty nice just the same.

I spent three years on here buying up English shoes, English shirts, Italian shirts, etc. Damned near spent myself out of a marriage before I decided I had what I needed.

Now, thanks to you bums, I am spending all my money on sneakers and jeans! My wife is right: it never ends.

Yeah most of the jeans at mine that aren't Lucky brand or Nautica have red green and yellow Jamaican stitching everywhere.

The TJ Maxx stores in Durham, RTP and the Marshall's in north Raleigh are usually pretty well stocked as well. Again, I do not know denim very well, but they typically have lots of Seven for All Mankind and True Religion.

Just a little note... I heard the reason there was a massive wave of RRL's lately at outlets and tj maxx's, etc was b/c they were sued by some company for 'copying' their stitching...I doubt we'll get a massive like that for a very long time...

that's a good point sylcedbred and that 'company' was the great Levis! Suing everyone for copying their arcuates.

Lawman, you have the Rinsed wash, which is as you have said, a pair of STF raw jeans that have been soaked and dried.
