What were you doing July 12, 2005? - Page 2

My wife and I were still on cloud 9, expecting our first child to be born early in the new year. Several days after this date we found out that we lost the baby and things really haven't been the same since. I can't wait to get back on the cloud.

No such thing as too much wine at lunchtime while on vacation.

There is when you still have 15 km to walk in the midday Spanish sun with no cover carryinbg a 70 lb pack (we carried streetclothes for the rest of the honeymoon, not just clothes for the hike, and I carried a lot of Jen's stuff). The best time for gratuitous drinking is always at the campsite just as the sun is going down and you've pitched your tents and and unstrapped your boots (although on this trip we stayed in nice hotels along the way for a honeymoon).

I so want to be back in California summiting Mt Whitney right now (a nice, hard climb, but not at all dangerous, so you don't really have to be on your guard), instead of being at my desk...

Exactly. Was packing for two weeks in a small village in the back and beyond of the French countryside, leaving the day after. France is very good for over-indulging at lunch.

Sorry about that man. I feel for you.

I can't remember for sure, but odds are good that I was looking at porn.

Greylock is no Whitney, but still a nice hike. I really like the AT through Western Mass. A bit further on, the Adirondacks have some straight-up-and-down type stuff, especially around Mt Marcy. Again, nothing above 14k (or even 6k) but still good exercise and amazing views. Go north and you're what, three hours from the Whites?

I so want to be anywhere that has terrain relief right now, instead of being at my desk, about 5 feet above sea level. There isn't even a camel in sight.
