Manhattan Sales Alert!! - Page 6

I didn't see that anyone caught the Barneys sale last week, so that means that the guy from the Midwest actually got the drop on all the Manhattanites on my first-ever trip to NYC.

Barneys had a sale when I was there on Thursday. A fair amount of shirts (about 40 in my size) and about 30 pairs of shoes. Shirts were Barneys, some Borrelli, and another Italian label I don't recall. All were 50% off. Shoes were C & J and some others as well. They had a good supply of sizes on the C&J, including the monkstrap and a plain-toe blucher.

I picked up a pair of shell cordovan CJ bluchers for $279 and a Barneys shirt for $85. Yay.

Lunch time stroll through Barney's, had a few pairs of C&J, one or two handgrades in size 8. Some Lidfort on sale, and other assorted shoes.

Thank god not Paul Stuart again.

I can't seem to find a thread discussing last year's Loro Piana sale. What's the selection like? I remember going on the last day and nearly buying some cashmere for trousers, but deciding against it. Is it worth going on Sunday morning?

Stopped by the Beretta sale this morning. Some interesting items. I picked up two shirts for $49 (from $185) each. One is a nice brown check pattern. The buttons are the coolest part: they appear to be MOP, but with a brownish tint to them that seems to match the shirt color. Not a perfect match, but the same sort of color, it looks very nice. Also picked up two cashmere pocket squares for $15 (from $60) each, a blue tie with flying quail for $15 (from $75), I think, a wool tweed cap for $20 (from $95).

Also picked up a ladies handbag that is very similar to the Longchamps style, for $13.

Prices are currently 70% off. I put down a lizard skin flask that was gone when I looked back. I also saw a very nice leather safari type bag listed for $725 that was gone when I walked by the table. But very nice, hope someone here picked it up. Some decent items, perhaps further reductions tomorrow.

For LP, I think it depends on how much you need sweaters. They'll have some outerwear, fabric and polo knits, but cashmere sweaters were the biggest item. Generally 75% off retail, so about $125 for a cashmere v-neck sweater.

Everything, except suiting fabris, was 90% off the last day. I got my invitation in the mail yesterday and the sale starts Saturday but I think you need an invite to get in that day. I'm not going on Saturday so if anyone in NYC wants my invite, PM me and you can pick it up at my office.

I'll be in NY next week. Maybe I will check it out.

I imagine someone could make a decent profit here if there are RLPLs at that sale in size 9.
Sadly, there weren't any. Mostly Polo Sport sneakers, a few dozen pairs of Made in Italy, and one lone pair of English made shoes (white buck penny loafers, very scuffed). I nearly bought this Italian made pair, but decided against it. They were $80.

Chorse, you just save me a trip, thanks. The last sample sale also didn't any RLPL.

The Beretta sale sounds interesting, I'll check it out this afternoon.
