Manhattan Sales Alert!! - Page 352

There was still a lot of stuff left today at 80% off vs. Wed, the first day. Again, hardly any basics or staples. The suits and outerwear pieces that I was interested in on the first day that I held off from buying were still there today.

Bought a sports coat and a trouser that I'll probably only wear to christmas/holiday party. A lot loud PC stuff that I was tempted but finally said to myself that I probably won't wear it...

You should post some pics later if you can.

Ask and you shall receive...

3 flannel suits (all with stripes)
1 mid-light weight windowpane suit
1 fall coat (probably too light for a NY winter)
2 light weight slacks

I know it's poor form to discuss pricing but... Warning: Spoiler! (Click to show)
I paid $2600 after tax for $11000 of merchandise.icon_gu_b_slayer[1].gificon_gu_b_slayer[1].gificon_gu_b_slayer[1].gif
I'll add at least another $100+ per suit for tailoring though...foo.gif

very nice. I picked up a phineas flannel suit, 2 pairs of Phineas trousers, a Phineas tweed flat cap, a mackintosh raincoat, a seraphin suede field jacket, and chelsea boots.

they all look pretty good, stuff in 36 were mostly really loud and cool, but not daily wearable PC stuff...

Anyone going to Loro Piana sample sale?

Majority of the stuff is 40% off. Even at that discount, it's still expensive.

However, they do have a large selection clothing and sizes.

Sounds like its a good thing I didn't wake up early and trek up to NYC for that (I am in DC so, I considered it, but wasn't sure what their % off would be). At 40% its not worth it. I think the Paul Stuart one would've been worth it, if they had had it on the weekend. Sidenote: if anyone is size 54EU in sweaters, I have one, new with tags, for sale.... I bought it earlier this year but lost a little weight and its too big for me now - at some point, I can negotiate on the price. http://www.styleforum.net/t/507341/nwt-loro-piana-100-baby-cashmere-sweater-54eu-large-extra-large-timeless/0_30

I read reviews of an old loro Piana sample sale at Soffier and cashmere scarfs were still like $700+. It think the previous years were 40-50% off on average.

I may go back on the last day if the discounts drop.

I have avoided this sale for the last few years. Price drops are never that compelling. You can do better at Saks, etc at their end of season sale on current merchandise. All of this stuff has been sitting unsold in various outlets for who knows how many years.

I've stopped by the LP sale on several occasions and have been unimpressed every time...

Gentry sample sale in Williamsburg is worth checking out if you're a smaller guy.

Lardini cotton suits for $200. TS(S) jackets for $175.

I know it's not Manhattan but w/e it's one stop into Brooklyn.

The Bloomingdales outpost on 72th & Broadway has a decent collection of Drake's ties for $66.
