Yeah they are. I saw a jacket I really liked and am considering buying if they drop outerwear another 10-20%. But for $500 I don't know if I can justify paying.

What do people think of Hickey Freeman stuff? It looks like their Mahogany line is either half or fully canvassed, but I have no idea if they're worth paying $700 for. The fabrics felt really nice, there was a nice roll to the lapel, and they seemed to look great, but not sure if they're worth that much. They had a few suits that were marked down to $99 but they were in weird sizes and pretty out there - 46R three piece suit in a pretty loud tweed with peak lapels, for example.

Anyone planning to go today?

I just came back from the Hickey Freeman sample sale. The Mahogany line is full canvassed. The Sterling is half canvassed. Mahogany is the traditional cut and runs quite big. The Sterling is the slimmer line but I don't quite want to buy half canvassed suits right now.

 

 

Suit price has dropped to $499, ties at $19, shirts/sweaters (quite a few cashmere sweaters) at $49.

 

There are two pairs of Super 150 Mahogany there, 41S and 42S. I think at $499, they are a good deal. Unfortunately, the cut on the Mahogany doesn't quite work for me.

I left by noon so things could have easily changed by now, considering how much stock was available. When I got there, ties were still $49 and when I left at noon, they were slashed to $19. Their suits are not selling well. Pretty much full rack of every size is available.

 

Overcoats were 30% off, with a cashmere overcoat running about $700-800 at checkout. If you want an overcoat, I suggest you go tomorrow to check it out because my gut is telling me they will get slashed again (no guarantees from me so if you end up wasting an hour...). I believe outerwear (not trenchcoats or overcoats) are at 50% off.

 

Cashmere sweaters by Bobby Jones are at $49, which are a tremendous deal. I personally have trouble buying the sweaters because the arm runs quite long and the fit is pretty loose, which made it a no go for me.

 

If anyone lives/works far away from the sale and want a price check tomorrow, let me know. I work 15 blocks away and can swing by if needed.

You are welcome. A note on the Loro Piana Super 150s, there might be more of them in there but I wear 40-41R depending on the cut so I only checked out 40-42. I consider a suit hanger to get wide at the shoulders to maintain the jacket shape. All of the normal Mahogany and Sterling were on this type of hangers. Both of the Loro Piana Super 150s were on hangers that run straight and never get wider at the shoulders. I believe all of the super 150s are on this type of hanger so it's an easy way to pick them out on the rack.

Stopped by the sale again - all sport coats are $199 and all suits are $499. Overcoats are 50% off the already reduced price. I believe jeans are $9 (if anyone has an interest in Hickey Freeman jeans...)

Bought an overcoat and a few of the Mahogany line sport coats. They still have tons of staple colors in everything. Definitely glad I waited a day - spent $200 less on the coat I almost bought yesterday.

So cashmere overcoats are $500 now?

I stopped by, got one of the mahogany line suits for $500.  The easy way to tell the Mahogany line is the color of the Hickey Freeman tag on the sleeve: brown = mahogany, grey = cheaper, lower quality lines.  Among the mahogany line there are two fits, Addison and Beacon; I think Addison is a bit more traditional, the Beacon slightly more modern (although both are more traditional than the Sterling line).  Notably non-overcoat outerware was 75% off and I got a pretty nice leather jacket for $75 (original retail $1k).

Yep. I had to restrain myself. There is definitely stock left as of today at 5PM.

hmm, this really makes me regret buying a 90/10 wool/cashmere overcoat I got at the hugo boss sample sale at $249...$500 is a pretty good deal for a 100% cashmere coat of solid construction but  I don't need a 3rd overcoat.

There are 100% Cashmere HF coats at Century 21 for $399 I think. You have to dig through the wool ones, they are solid navy and solid brown.
