The sale is crap because the prices are still higher than what I can get normally at other stores in NYC.

When do the winter sales typically happen? I'm considering a trip to NYC in the winter and would like to plan the trip around sale time.

I got a Hickey (not hickey freeman) black suit (36s) for $599.  I researched this site and seemed people could get hickey suits for less money, but for my hard-to-find size, i jumped on the deal.  Most of the sale items seem to be barney brands.....

Sale extended for until Wednesday. About one-third of the selection there was on the first day. Some suits are 60% off the first day sale prices, all others are 40% off the first day sale prices. I bought a Barney's brand suit for ~$200 today.

I picked up a few Drakes ties for about $40 each over the weekend. Other than that all I saw in my size was a bunch of black suits and Hugo Boss pants.

I say this every year and yesterday's trip was no exception: I think the barney's warehouse sale gets a bad rap - whether its because people are deliberately trying to keep people away is unclear, but I always manage to find good deals if I'm willing to sift through the detritus.

Yesterday was the last day and I was just passing through so didnt have much time to dive into every pile, but on the other hand, there was definitely less merchandise that past years. But at 75% off the already reduced tags, I thought I'd take a chance. Came away with a Cucinelli dress shirt (the MOP buttons on the BC shirts are something to see) in a sort of lilac/pink check, and a pair of fantastic looking Isaia khakis - really phenomenal workmanship, probably on par with Incotex. Both items had original price tags at $495, after the tag slashes and 75% off, the BC shirt was $60 and the khakis were $47. And I didnt even have to dig for this stuff.

Also some some really nice looking Drakes dress shirts, but unfortunately nothing in my size.

+1...........if people could just take their heads out of their ass they would see things for what they really are. Like I said a few posts above, it seems the only way a sale is considered worthy is if an abundance of every grail/high-end item is available in the most common sizes at 90% off.

I have found many gems at Barneys and it doesn't even require much work. Enjoy your treasures!

^^^^Thanks Viral!

I hear you. If there is one area where I would probably agree that the content does seem to have dropped off a cliff, it would have to be men's shoes. The first few sales that I went to had tons of C&J handgrade and benchgrade shoes - I still have handgrade suede chukkas, handgrade cliffords in antique chestnut (special order color for barneys), and benchgrade suede brown conistons, all for under $300. You just don't see that kind of merchandise in the shoe section anymore, unfortunately - but that doesnt mean there arent good deals to be had on shirts, suits, slacks, etc.
