sorry if this has already been covered, but is there any knowledge of how to get an invitation to the hermes private sale (held the day before the public sample sale)?

Dropped by the Hermes sale this morning. Some pretty decent selection remaining.

Ties were $110. Pocket squares were $78. Bow ties were $90.

There were some nice monkstraps in what looked like Parisian Brown or Dark Brown Museum calf (I cannot tell the difference between those two colors), made in england for hermes presumably by John Lobb, but they were still about $700. In EU 44 and there was another pair possibly in 45.

There were also some very nice Hermes khaki/tan canvas with leather trim garment bags that looked awesome but were still north of $4K, IIRC.

Shirts were about $200, but I'm not into the metal buttons.

Lots of women's items still remaining. Scarves were $180, I saw some canvas purses, also plenty of clothes.

Not the greatest sale ever. I picked up a matching tie and PS - a stork with clouds and suitcase in navy blue and specks of red and white. I need more whimsy in my life

I stand corrected. I thought they had more brown in them but I probably should have taken a closer look.

Well pewter Museum calf really does look more brown rather than pewter, especially under certain lights. http://www.jamesbondlifestyle.com/im...-john_lobb.jpg as opposed to the straight brown museums http://t1.gstatic.com/images?q=tbn:A...z-O5R7niOb&t=1

^ I love that one, always the biggest ripoff of the season.

Yep, some of Soiffer's sales have gotten considerably worse as time goes by - maybe as more people hear about it, they can afford to keep prices higher. But the first Loro Piana sale that I went to years ago was amazing - although everything was cleared out by the end of the first day. I came away with several crew neck sweaters in a nice soft wool for like $40 each.

The last few times I've walked in and out with nothing. Cashmere V-Necks are now well over $200after discounting.

And I dont think they've done Paul Stuart or Asprey in awhile now. . .

I just came back from the Loro Piana sample sale. Cloth was around $2300-$2600 for 4 yards @ 60% off so $1000 and change for a bolt. Most cloth was S120-S150. Some nice designs but damn the crazy prices.

I think the best was the 18 oz or so donkey colored cashmere 80% off from $7k. This cashmere has so much body. Unlike most of the other cloth there was no selvedge,
