Crossposted from another thread: I just went to the To Boot sale in NY and was sorely disappointed. The shoes felt and looked very cheap for the "sale price." There was no way I was going to pay $150 for what they were offering and I can't fathom people ever considering paying more than that when they are normally priced.
Got this in my email yesterday but just realized I never posted it:
Three Day Sale
Take 20% off all regularly priced shirts, ties and cufflinks.
Friday, Saturday and Sunday, 11/7 through 11/9. http://www.20peacocks.com/

I've never seen them in person but this is what I feared from seeing the shoes online. Guess I won't waste my time.
I find that they're some of the best suits you can find for the price. The fabric is high quality, the tailoring is precise, and they don't thrive on the "big name" labels like Prada or Giorgio Armani just to thrive. If you can find them at half off, they're a bargain. The only thing I don't like is their more traditional cut (note: I don't mean wide cut) making them a bit tougher to wear casual.
Maybe a half dozen pairs of trou total. Not worth going for that. There seemed to be decent stock. About a rolling rack's worth for each size, if you consider sweaters, jackets, and outerwear. I saw a friend there who is probably a 52. He's something of a BC fanatic, and had a jacket, a vest with fur collar (wild) and a half dozen sweaters it looked like he was getting.
I went to the Cucinelli sale this morning and left empty handed. Nothing in my size that I loved. Prices are pretty good, but I'm consistently underwhelmed by BC.
I know that this will go over like a ton of bricks but I think BC has either bitten off more than they can chew or they have made a conscious effort to cut costs/quality. I say that because while their knits and outerwear are still top quality, I think their tailored clothing is just not what it should be, particularly for the price. Construction, cut and fabric wise, I feel the shirts, pants, jackets and ties come up short relative to the competition.
