Manhattan Sales Alert!! - Page 136

I just returned from a day of shopping which also included Saks. The place was a madhouse. At one point the down escalator on the fourth floor went out. For longer than I care to remember, hundreds of folks and I were stuck as there were no other available stairs and the lines for the elevators were extremely long. After several minutes the escalator was repaired and the madness continued.

Lots of suits (blocking aisles) at bargain prices along with lots of other items. I was overheating and decided to retreat to the outdoors.

I found my bargains elsewhere. At BB on Madison: 3 BF cardigans, BF shell chukkas, BF pebble grain wingtips, BF trench coat, 2 ties, a vest, and a BF umbrella (the sale price and morning discount put it at Brigg prices so I couldn't resist). At RL: a great alpaca/wool sports jacket that was about a quarter of the regular price. At Lobb: Vale monks in black (not on discount but I've been lusting for them).

Is it the Black Fleece trench that has like the wool fabric stripe lining in it?
What was it on sale?

25% off. I believe the sb model has the wool lining, not the db. I also got the 15% morning discount.

I picked up a brown wool 6x1 double breasted overcoat from the Phineas line this morning in Chicago. Size medium but fits like a slim 38R. $300 down from $1100.

Was there a sale at Ralph Lauren? Is it over?

I refuse to believe that I can't get a black label suit that isn't discounted!

They'll be on eBay in a week or two.

Black label suits were down to around $680. A sales rep mistakenly told me they were an additional 30% off. They said they would honor it, but I didn't like the suit that much.

Where? Not at Saks right?

I talked to the guy in charge of the BL and PL at Saks and he said none of them were on sale in NY.

I am going to tell the FBI I saw him touching on little boys if he lied to me.

My score....

Cucinelli caramel brown leather biker jacket fully lined in cashmere was $3295, mine for $1050

Kiotn, Brioni and Bvlgari ties all about $50/each

Breuer pocket squares $15/each

If you can make it before noon, it's definitely worht it.

Great haul. I don't usually see Kiton at the Saks until the consolidate sale shipped in from other Saks locations as the flagship doesn't carry Kiton since there're 3 Manhattan stores who do. I picked up some Borrelli & Charvet shirts at Saks and an Oxxford cashmere overcoat at Barneys. The Kiton sale shoe lineup at Bergdorf is quite good. All in all, a pretty productive day. Btw, no Edward Green sale at the Mansion.

Thanks VR...you've done well, too.

The Kiton tie was definitely a one off return from another Saks and the only of its kind.

I also picked up Brooks #8 shell cordovan perforated cap toes and 4 pairs of trousers at Paul Stuart. Two pairs of incredible Phineas flat front wool plaids and two more pairs of the Italian moleskins. All in all, not a bad day.

Now get your rest and be ready for the EG email tomorrow.

RL main store in Chicago, but if you're in NYC they will ship. BL and PL are on sale at the Mansion as well.

Is the sale over or is it still on tomorrow? It sounds like I'm obsessed but it's really hard for me to find things that fit and this fits.

Upstairs, the wool plaid Phineas slacks are on sale, I got two pair as well as two more pairs of the Italian moleskins...

There's also a nice selection of outerwear.
