The To Boots by Peluso are definitely worth searching out at retail, on sale even more so. BG Vass stock is not that impressive, at least last time I was there.

The BG selection of Vass and JL is uninspiring at best, I very much agree. And yet, as far as craftsmanship and style goes, in my opinion at least, To Boot still leaves much to be desired comparatively.

Edit: I'm not saying they're bad shoes. They're just in a different class (and price range certainly).

Are they the ones that have a "distressed" shoe with an etched depiction of the New York subway sysem on the sole of the shoes?!

Fellas,

I want to purchase a bunch of dress pants, size 32, for my father for the holidays.

Do you know where I should look? Any cheap Incotex at any of the usual suspects?

Thanks,

Z

You'll find Zanella at the downtown Century 21, but they sell them for $130 or so, I think. Have you checked the VCH (Lance) or Worldsfinest sites? They usually have decent stock in that size.

Try Lance at VCH and Ian Daniels. They have lots of incos in 32. They charge more than Ed and Chorse though the pants still have the incotex labels. Keep in mind that incotex trousers, while not as slim fitting as their cotton chinos, are still slimmer than average 32 you find in dept. stores.

Quick update from the To Boot Sale:
It opened at 8:30 this morning, so I stopped by before morning clinic. Stock was smaller than previous sales, though the prices were very good on select items. Lobb Prestige and mainline were priced at $600 and included shoe trees. Not bad for the prestige models, and they had a vintage 2006 on the shelf. Vass were also $600 and included shoe trees. There were a few U -last models in larger sizes. Nothing from the "premium" stock in size 8 or less. A few beautiful Kitons that were sold in the first few hours for $800ish.

Decent selection of Gravati and Peluso on the markdown shelves. I picked up a pair of brown Church loafers.

With the year coming to a close, what sales can we expect in the future?

Will Bloomies go below 20-40%? Will Barney's have a sale? BG?

Barney's warehouse sale is when?

Thanks in advance

Cash only seems kind of limiting... but maybe I just don't carry that much cash around NYC usually. That said, I'll be there tomorrow morning.

Hopefully you all left some of those Lobbs for me.

Argoth,
Honestly, I expect the majority of the good stuff to be gone within the first day. There is a D'Agostino around the corner from the sale with an ATM, so I usually check the stock, and if I decide to buy, I'll hit the ATM. Personally, I thought there was a decent representation of Lobb Prestige and Vass within the first hour of the sale, and the $600 price tag was very competitive with Ebay/annual sales. There was an added bonus of being able to try on the shoes in person and receiving the lasted shoe trees.

The plebian racks were filled with sub-contracted To Boot shoes, Gravati, Peluso for To Boot, Prada, and Church's Custom Grade. The stock was smaller than previous years though the holdovers from the spring sale were reduced even further. I believe the Peluso's picked up were at least two years old, and discounted from $199 to $149 from the last sale. The same goes for the brown Church loafers I bought. Highlights from my brief run through the popular sizes, were a pair two-tone Gravati wholecuts (the throat was a separate piece of lighter leather) that was tagged $475 for Stanley Korshak discounted to $99. An assortment of nice Gravati loafers for $149... Not much Mantelllassi this time around.

FWIW, I believe some of the Adam Derrick crew actually reads this site. If you are lurking, please say hello

Norcaltransplant, When I arrived this morning, they were down to one rack that contained Lobb, Vass, and Kiton. I think there were maybe 3 Kiton shoes, 1 Vass shoe, 3 Lobb shoes, and 2 Lobb boots available when I arrived. If you're a size 9 1/2 in Lobb or Kiton, it could be your lucky day. There was a JL Sutton in kind of a reddish brown museum calf that I wanted to fit me so very badly. Sadly, I'm a 9 UK in Lobb.

On the other hand, I'm pleased to say that I did pick up the Vass in Oxblood on the U Last!

The photos posted really don't do them justice. Easily the most beautiful shoe I own. Although, don't we always say that about our new purchases? Heh. Arg
