Went around 5:30 last night and there were slim pickens. They had some decent bolts left, and one I really liked but was a 1/4 of a yard to short for a 46 jacket. Line up the Hickey sale.

I went to the last Gitman sale. Decent prices on the outerwear though it all sells in the first few hours. Gitman shirts are decent at $35, but I wouldnt stress at getting there too early.
I figured I'd visit HF later in the week. The markdowns were really uninspiring last year, but I think it could be a good source for outerwear. I wish it were run like a REAL sample sale, with the suits priced at around $250 on the last day. That would inspire me. Oh well.
Burberry/Gitman was pretty bad. Gitman shirts were $55 and the selection wasn't impressive. Ditto Burberry... only sports shirts, ties and hankerchiefs. No suits/sportcoats. The suits/sportcoats on sale were H. Freeman (not Hickey), Corbin, and some brand called Joan Roth or something like that. Suits $225, Sportcoats $175.
Well, at the Burberry/Gitman sale I managed to get a Gitman made in italy 1/4 lined tweed sportcoat for 60, a Gitman shirt for 40 (I regret this, it's not so great), and a Burberry tie for another 40 (ties were very nice I thought). I also picked up a Made in England Aquascutum raincoat for 150, which was the real steal. There were only 2 of these, both in 40R.
Tuxes were 300 I think at H-F last year, mostly long sizes. If anyone goes, could you tell me if there are tuxes? I'm a 42R.
Did you see how good the stock was in 38R at Gitman?
I didn't look closely, but didn't see much in sizes below 40. 40-44 looked pretty good, if you're into H.Freeman/Corbin. Also, forgot to mentioned, but there were tons of beige/cream-ish cotton suits.

There were two 42R in a 50% wool, 50% mohair blend. 3 button (can't remember if it was roll 2) single breasted with peaked lapels. Such a high mohair content made a pretty scratchy wool. The jacket was fully lined. They had a lot of stock. The room is pretty much full. I'm not surprised. I spoke with one of the staff who complained that they aren't taking the prices low enough. Anyone remember what the price on sportcoats was on the last day? There were two I really wouldn't mind owning, but not at the current price.
