For those in SoCal, I used to go to happy hour at Yardhouse since it was $4.50/glass which was cheaper than the $5/bottle (if not more) at the market.

fuck you.

Had Duvel last night. Found it much more enjoyable than Tremens. I will be trying nocturnum soon.

It looks as if I'm in the minority in liking Nocturnum over Tremens. Every time I've had DT it just seemed to have a bite to it that I couldn't enjoy. I think the Weyerbacher Quad is superior to both though.

Found a place in town that has this on tap, I'll have to give it a shot.

Along the same style, Duvel better (and the original). Also like Lucifer much better than Tremens. And Hoegaarden Grand Cru.

Tremens, not bad, but not really that special either. Personally, I would take the St. Bernadus Tripel, Kasteel Triple, Maredsous Triple or Foret Saison Dupont over Tremens anytime.

I don't think st bernardus tripel is that comparable. Pretty different tasting beers imo. Where the hell are you finding hoegaarden grand cru? I thought they stopped making that? I wanted to try it though

Not the same, that is why I listed it below the others. Triple style and Golden have differences for sure. I just think that they are a much better beer for the price point and I would much rather drink the ones I listed over Tremens anytime.

As for the Grand Cru I think they are still making it but am not sure. I had it at a restaurant named Belgo awhile back. I will be back in London next month and will probably go there again. I'll see if they still have it.

Beer is kinda personal, especially when it comes to strong Belgian beers. They're different, but not better. Some want a double, triple, dark, light, etc...

Try different things.

Exactly. I don't want to drink the same beer all the time. Whites, darks, blondes, reds... depends on the mood.

I went to a place that sells beer by the bottle and grabbed one of these (made a six pack with DT, some kind of french seasonal (summer) beer, Troegs dreamweaver, Balto Heroic Lager, Genesis Ale, and ramstein classic). DT was $4.50 a bottle...seemed expensive, but I've heard good things here and at beeradvocate.com. It poured a huge head. I actually had to let the foam settle a bit before I could finish pouring. I'm usually not a fan of pale ales (I think I've only had IPAs), but this was good. It didn't blow me away though. For the amount of alcohol in it I'm definitely a fan. Other than Duvel, what are some good Belgian pale ales?

I like St Bernardus ABT 12. I just had one today, though, and I wasn't happy with it.
