Shaved my hair short...need sunscreen advice for scalp

I shaved my head slightly shorter than Glorfindel (I used a 1.5 on the back/sides and 3 on top) and I spend 3-4 hours/day in the sun. Is there a good shampoo or hair product that I can use for uv protection that does not make my hair look nasty? I still have my hair but feel with my hair this short my scalp may still burn. I like Glorfindel am pretty lucky...I've had longer hair since I was a baby and this is the first time I've ever shaved my head (I'm his age as well). I was surprised how well it turned out and it feels great.

Thanks in advance.

I also need a good product to moisturize my scalp. Being in the sun/wind all day dries mine out (I don't have dandruff but it itches every now and then).

sunscreen = a hat moisturizer = leave in conditioner (paul mitchell?) or a generic body lotion (curell?)

Very Bad advice all around. Hats don't always block UVA or UVB. Leave in conditioners by and large are HAIR treatments not scalp. slathering regular lotion on your scalp is a fucking horrible idea. Nioxin makes a spray on sun screen in SPF 20. Good for daily use but certainly not a long day at the beach. Also alcohol free which is good for your scalp. I have a shaved head and I drive a convertible in Texas most summer days and the nioxin works great for me. If you want a scalp moisturizer, Nioxin makes one as well but I have no experience with it. You may look into what moisturizing shampoos and conditioners do for you first before going to an actual scalp treatment. There are literally HUNDREDS of different options beyond that as far as products go. I personally like Nioxin products despite their penchant for frequent packaging and label changes. Artec and Aveda are solid as well and i have used several products from them both when I had longer hair and after I started shaving my head.

I spend 8 hours a day in the sun with a 1size 2top haircut... I haven't ever had a burnt scalp.

Mine burned just the other weekend. But I tend to spend very little time out in the sun, so I'm not used to it.

I'll have to try some of these products mentioned in the future.

Clinique and Jack Black both make a mosturizer with SP20. The problem is that SP20 isn't enough for direct sun.

The skin on your scalp is thinner than on your face and far more prone to damage. I suggest you try some of the greaseless Nutragena products. In the summer I use their SP70 if I can't wear a hat and I still get pink.

That's really awesome that you are the exact opposite of 98% of human beings.

Maybe my hair is thicker or something... or maybe it just doesn't hurt. I don't recall ever having any burn on the top of my head, lol.
