NOS Crown Windsor by Bostonian Longwings 12C

These are lovely. They appear to be older, perhaps significantly so, than the couple of pairs of Crown Windsors I have personally. They are darker in person than pictured. Size is 12C/A. Soles stamped "Hand Lasted." Full leather lining, genuine leather insole, Comfort Arch. Although there is no label for the upper, I believe these to be calfskin (can anyone confirm?). Addendum: this blog, translated from the Japanese, has some interesting information about a pair with the same "Crown Windsor by Bostonian" insole label and "Hand Lasted" embossing. It dates its pair to the 80s, which is around what I would have guessed for these. http://babelfish.yahoo.com/translate...rUrl=Translate $120 shipped in United States.

You're joking right?

Measurements would be nice.

Confused. Anyway, outside measurements are:
Length 13 3/8"
Width 4 5/8".

Inside length appears to be around 12", but I am less confident on this number.

I believe spence is saying that "chunk" missing is intentional.

the "missing chunk" is a design feature to keep from the edge of the heel catching on your pants hem

Yes, just being a smart ass. I like the shoes but don't think they'd fit.

thanks,

Doh, wonder why I never noticed that on any of my shoes before.

I vote shell.

The reasons I think no: (1) not marked; and (2) there looks to be the tiniest bit of micro-creasing on the left upper (doesn't show up in picture).

My black shell cordovan Bostonian crown windsors had "shell cordovan" stamped on the sole. I also have a ravello brown shell Bostonian pair that isn't stamped as shell.

I believe you. What had me guessing was what looks like a little bit of plume just in front of the right quarter of the right shoe.

Those look a lot like shell. Even if not, they look like an outstanding pair. Why can't you people sell these in my size?

Very nice indeed! They look like a pair of Nettletons I once knew.
