Quick Italian Wine Recs?

Taking the girlfriend to a local Italian place tonight - they offer free corkage on Tues/Thurs. As such, looking for a couple of quick suggestions for nice(r) bottles. I generally enjoy Sangiovese. I've only had Brunello once and it was.. alright. For awhile, our house drinking wine was De Angelis Lacrima Christi del Vesuvio, a nice light red we discovered at 2 Amy's. I'll say the budget is 100 bucks a bottle though will likely only buy one at that price. So.. sound off?

Tiganello - sangeovese base, well rated, and easy to find
Tenuta Sette Ponti Oreno - the 2004 was spectacular, blew over a slew of Barolos and Brunellos at a tasting I went to

despite the free corking, you might want to let whatever you get decant for the afternoon.

How about a good, mature Amarone? Probably my fav. Italian wine.

+1 on the Amarone. Marvelous wine, though you may have to call around to see what you can find for tonight. Who knows what vintages stores will be stocking.

Most of the stores had younger Amarones - 2000 was the oldest I saw and the guy didn't give it a glowing review so I figured to go a different direction. Picked up - La Valentina Bellovedere 2003 Estate and La Spinetta Campe 2001. Thanks.

+1 on the rec for a super-Tuscan. You can't go wrong with Tignanello, but I also like Sassicaia, Ornellaia or Guado al Tasso.
