move your head slightly to the left and right. now move it up and down. again, move it left and right. you're probably moving your head by concentrating on a point that is a half inch above the point where you think your conscious is. right between your eyebrows.

whats the name of that point you use to move your head?

Tried it once due to a nagging backache and it worked for a couple of days.

It has been proven to work for some things pragmatically, but definitely not lowering blood pressure. Back in Uni I summarized some research on using Acupucture as a supplement for lowering blood pressure. The tests were double blind, and the acupuncturists putting the needles in random places which were supposed to have zero effect at all had the same effect as putting them in the "right" places

Two accupuncture stories.

1) My father-in-law had severe hiccups for 13 days. It was so bad they took away his drivers license. He tried everything, including all the normal tricks, drugs, etc... You name it, he tried it. He was seeing a sports doctor for a knee injury and he suggested accupuncture. It cured him immediately. This was about 8 years ago.

2) My wife has a cronic issue with her jaw that causes it to continually spasm and move her jaw over about 4mm. You'd never know it from looking at her, but she's in pain all the time. Accupuncture was recommended. The way it was explained to us is that the needle is causing trama, an injury. Your body naturally responds with all sorts of good things, like endorphines, causing a healing effect. This would aid in her muscle condition. She tried this for a number of months, and eventually I was trained to do it to her at home. It helped. It never cured the issue, so we haven't done it recently, but she could deffinetely feel a change in her jaw. She said it almost felt numb.

Love it, resurrected by spam. In the past I had to carry an asthma inhaler around, because sporadically I'd get an asthma attack- nothing so serious that I worried about dying, but it was very uncomfortable and annoying. It had been getting worse at the time that I got acupuncture to treat it. It was actually a bizarre experience- the acupuncturist was up in suburban New York, and his office was this ridiculous mess of herbs hanging from the ceiling and in bags and cartons on the floor and in the hallway. There were used acupuncture needles all over the place- place seemed totally unregulated or something. He also was a total caricature- he wore robes and smoked, and had a wicked fu manchu. Anyway, I lay down on the table, and my wife spoke to the acupuncturist (who spoke only rudimentary English) about my asthma, and before I knew it, he pulled out a (no shit) six inch acupuncture needle, prodded at the base of my neck near the top of my chest, and with both hands stuffed that damned needle down into my chest cavity. I was too shocked and horrified to respond. Anyway, this uncomfortably long needle sat inside my chest for about 10 minutes before he pulled it out. It didn't do shit for my asthma- if anything it made it worse. He told me to come back and try it again in a couple of weeks. Against my better judgment I went back (my wife really wanted me to do this), and he did it again. He jammed that damn needle down into my chest cavity, and it really did not feel good at all. I choked out that it was uncomfortable, and he obliged and pull the needle back about a 1/4 of an inch. Again, after the treatment, my asthma got worse- but after that it got markedly better. It's been three years now, and I haven't carried an inhaler around for that time.

So, is it pseudoscience? Maybe. I've had other sessions that didn't do shit for me. Did it seem to work in this particular case? Yes.

They're not all the same. For example, most Chinese doctors would not give Western patients the nasty herbal brew that they give their Eastern patients because they know that they won't be able to stand it. That stuff you have to drink twice a day is important in treatments and yet most people don't know about it.

Also, there have been plenty of studies done. There been too many studies done since the Western doctors are still in shock that something not invented by a white person from the west can actually work.

You are crazy lol

Nothing wrong with paying for the placebo effect.
