I need a sink!

Pretty straigthforward. I need a double sink, preferably with an apron and most likely stainless unless someone can convince me not to. Nothing fancy, 1K or so.

Didn't you just say you are sourcing granite? Can you get an apron sink that is underhung? Or is top hung okay with you? I'm not a sink expert, but from buying a new one for the current house this weekend (plain old double stainless underhung), it seems you need to top hang an apron sink, but people sure seem to go underhung with granite.

what is this language you speak

I assume by undermount you mean under a solid piece (with the holes cut for the sink) of countertop versus a slab to the left and right of a big sink. I don't mind the top hang, unless there are issues people know of.

As I understand it:

Top hung: hole cut in granite, sink overhangs the hole and rests on top of the granite

Under hung: hole cut in granite, sink hangs from the bottom surface of the granite. This is an underhung:

This is getting too kinky even for ed. Not everyone likes to discuss how his sink is hung...

This is Ed we're talking about. No amount of discussion on his "hang" is too much for him. I've got an undermount now and it's a fucking pain in the ass. It lowers the sink depth so that you have to hunch over the sink to get deep into the water. Since the granite tops off the sink I have to be VERY careful with anything glass. I've already broke several pieces on that small ledge of granite.

Stuff like sinks and similar building materials are going for record low prices down here in Houston.

Check these prices out.

I'd be willing to proxy but shipping might be a bit much.

I think you can do better than a $1,000 for a very nice sink these days with new construction down so much.

This guy is near me in the Oak Forest area.

Very popular installation in my neighborhood. Much easier to clean as well with no lip/counter interface.

Are you super tall or do you have an odd build? I'm about 1/2 under 6ft, and have no problem with this.

As AF said, cleaning is much better.

how would the top mount be "dirtier"? One guy told me that the installation in that pic could lead to some water issues with time inbetween the sink/counter .

Spartan, but I like it a lot.

You know, the hard to clean schmutz you get around the lip of the sink, where it rests on the counter top? Gone with underhung.

Can you please explain why "cleaning is much better"? We have the "over" version which was installed with a clean silicone seal all around and I've never once thought that cleaning was an issue. I'd think that properly sealing (or re-sealing) the "under" would be a more challenging task.

Is it really gone or simply gone from your sight?
