Dim Sum in DC

Dim Sum this weekend in the DC area. Hollywood East, A&J, or Mark's Duck House. Which place generally has the best dim sum or is it all about the same?

There's a place in Rosslyn, I think second floor of the USA Today building, that's supposed to be very good. I've eaten there once and enjoyed it.

China Garden. It's the former Gannett building. It's probably the best you'll be able to do for dim sum, although DC is hardly a good dim sum town. A&J I'd highly recommend, but it's not your typical southern chinese dim sum.

Good catch. Didn't know it lacked southern flair.

I've been there, didn't have the dim sum, but found it to be extremely generic chinese food. Not good, not bad, was hungry an hour later. Would not go out of my way to go there.

What, A&J? It's hardly generic. It's Hong Kong/Taiwanese style food. The fried pork chop plate is worth the trip alone and almost all the small dishes are great. If you're talking about China Garden then yeah, it's below average chop suey stuff.

I was talking about China Garden. Sorry for the confusion.

I don't think there is really any good Dim Sum in DC

There really isn't. Best dim sum I've had would be in Toronto, easy. NYC isn't bad either. Haven't eaten enough on the west coast, though (and I've been busy eating ramen up here)

I keep hearing about A&J, so I'll have to try it some day. Interesting that it's atypical.

I've enjoyed China Garden when I've gone so recommended.

Anybody tried Mark's Duck House?

^ Mark's Duck house sucked. Ironically, the character translation is Big Wong Gei, which is an even more ironic meaning. The dim sum tasted like cardboard and lacked the HK experience. China Garden is more of an authentic HK style dim sum place. The food is not the highest in quality. That is mostly because there is always a line of people waiting to get in and the owners feel that the can serve dog shit and people would still line up for it.

Next trip will be A&Js and Hollywood East.
