Coppley MTM questions

I was looking to get my first MTM suits, two from Coppley. I was looking through the catalog and some of the models said fully constructed, does this mean full canvased fronts?

Anyone? I'm asking because we are only doing Copply MTM now (we had lots of problems with samuelson) and its still new and have seen both fused (in their DB a customer just ordered) and full canvased in most of our sport coats.

demeis: Don't know the answer. I do know that this site has some nice Coppley suits: http://www.execstyle.com/filter_results_all.asp

I did some more clicking around their website and came across this. http://www.coppley.com/en/brands/coppley_features.cfm So i'm guessing they are all half canvased at least, but its weird the two DB were fused. Anyhow i'm guess that "Lapels are shaped in manufacturing to ensure a smooth wrinkle-free front " means fused lapels and "Padded canvas lapel ensures the lapel roll memory through the life of the garment " means canvesed lapels?

demeis: I don't know the answers. I do know I don't obsess over canvas vs fused. If you look at the Exec style site, you'll read that many of the Manzonis are canvassed. I assume some of the other brands are fused. I agree with A Harris and Jon of FIH ties that it's more how the suit drapes. For example, this is a nice-looking suit by Nautica: http://www.execstyle.com/SProducts.asp?pid=1093 For one, it's a rarely found (nowadays) 2 button model. It just looks nice and it won't break your bank. I also like this one, though it's more than twice as much: http://www.execstyle.com/SProducts.asp?pid=1077

Its going to my First MTM and i'm really wanted it to be something that isn't gonna pucker or go bad after a few years. For $500 for the suit i don't think its a bad deal if its not full canvased just trying to figure out if is or isn't.

I have 2 coppley suits. One is half canvas and has hand sewn lapels. My other Coppley suit is fully fused MTM and has no hand work at all. That said, it was purchased in January of 2000, was worn heavily for the first 3.5 years and occassionaly for the last 1.5 years. It has lasted without any problems (unlike other fused suits I have owned) I think they have different levels so make sure you ask for their best. Suprising that you have found Coppley easier to deal with. Samuelsohn is far and away the better Canadian product.
