http://www.vimeo.com/1465284 I quite agree with this fellow.

I've known a few designers like that. They're usually a PITA to work with.

It is rather amazing how much shoddy "professional" design there is out there.

I got a better stream with this link:

I also agree. Toronto, Canada is a shining example of tearing down what little history we have,
and building crap in its place.
Too many examples to list.
Makes you want to weep.

Why are you looking at that ugly fucker?

Makes me wonder how much the original cost in 2009 dollars.

Yeah, you wonder how people have such bad taste when professional designers are designing everything for them. I mean people will buy whatever they have to choose from.

The problem is, this is the same issue as us complaining about guys buttoning all three buttons on a three-button jacket: only a small subset of the population knows or cares. When I was doing some technical drawing for a couple years, I once had a client called Cre84u Millennium Graphics. Their logo included a rainbow gradient and some sort of script font. Edit: Holy shit, they're still around, but with a different logo. This was in 2002 that I dealt with them.

The core of this problem is quite simply design schools. Yes, modern technology is a huge problem and it allows far too many people to be doing things that they have no business doing (in every area in general); but there is no excuse for design schools allowing people to graduate thinking that things like this and this and this are good ideas. This reminds me of the time I met a person who was getting a degree in fashion design at a fairly costly art school, and had never heard of Ralph Lauren. Give me a fucking break. Something needs to happen. An aesthetic fascist revolution needs to happen in this country, and the education system needs to be completely reconstructed. A low budget does not have to equal poor design. There is no excuse for it. No fucking excuse at all. The poor do not have to look poor, and the wealthy especially do not have to look poor -- this is apparently not being taught anywhere and it should be. It should be common sense. Modular homes do not have to look like the link above; $20 shoes do not have to look like the link above; a pickup truck should not look like that; and Jesus Christ, stop putting glossy bezels on electronic devices like TVs and things that are constantly being touched (Samsung are the worst offenders of this). If you do not understand what I am talking about, and you really want to be horrified; spend about 30 minutes observing the men's clothing section at Walmart. Be sure to check out the Puritan section. After that, go look at the furniture section and stop by Target and Best Buy as well. This is why America is fucked beyond repair.

Wait what's wrong with Target? They are eons ahead of their competitors.
That isn't saying much.

Look at their furniture and a lot of their clothing. While the clothing isn't nearly as bad; everything else there is basically the same thing Walmart is selling.
