Ask me about Eyewear! - Page 141

Yeah, there was a bit of discussion about MIC knitwear a while ago and it seems the label matters a lot to many people still. I purchased a pair of the Garret Leights on sale, and I've been happy with them. However, given previous MIC discussions, some people (especially those paying full retail) might be turned off by the origin of the frames.

Personally, I think tht regardless of where it is made, if it is made well, it is made well. There is no denying quality. If the pricepoint doesn't reflect the quality, then don't buy it. I have seen some well made wooden frames last longer than name brand wood frames. I guess everything is relative.

Not if you ask a taiwanese person. They don't consider themselves Chinese but Taiwanese. In terms of eyewear, I can't remember the last time I have seen any eyewear made in Taiwan although I could be wrong.

being a taiwanese myself, I see myself to have a chinese background but not Chinese from the Mainland.

back to the topic. growing up in Taiwan, I never really see any frames made in Taiwan. I used to see cheap and low end frames that were made in China and the high-end frame were usually made in Japan or Italy.

However, I have since moved to the States for 11 years so not sure what's going on back there.

Got it. Someone told me stuff made in Taiwan is better than MIC. He wasn't referring to glasses specifically though.

I guess that depends on the product. I don't want to rule out all stuff MIC is bad but I have to agree that stuff made in Taiwan usually goes thru more inspections than those MIC.

Hrm, I like the frames but perhaps they match too closely with your rounder face? Have you ever tried something more angular?

Also - how many people out there still wear glasses without the actual need for them? (aka non prescription). I find myself occasionally, and ironically wearing glasses - after I got LASIK a year ago haha.

Thanks. This is the first pair of glasses I've ever ordered online. I didn't think they'd work well when I bought them but the frames were just so damn cool.

They look good. I have a similar pair i use for driving and distance.

I've don't recall that model but it may be just an older model.

But these are some reasons I think it is real.
-serial number on lenses
-font on temples look real
-hinges look like something that comes on a Chanel frame

Some concerns:
-from the pictures, the material doesn't look correct
-color of lenses, usually on a black frame, they have grey lenses
-it may be old but the crystals don't look consistent

I think it is most likely real. My concerns are probably just because the angle of the pictures and so on.
