International shipping issues to Russia?

I know there are reasons why people often refuse to sell to buyers in Italy (and Germany?), I have a pair of shoes on ebay (need a gift for the wife? Marc Jacobs size 40 shoes), and interest from a buyer in Russia. I need to send a quote, how do you guys who sell internationally deal with this. I'll want insurance and delivery confirmation, what's the best route, or is it too much trouble? Thanks,

What a coincidence - I went to print a UPS label from my corporate account to a guy in Russia, and there's no "Russia" in the drop down box...
So I call my customer service guy and he says, "we no longer ship to Russia - too many problems there."
So I go online to usps.com to print a label up and I get an error - "There's no shipping options available to that destination, please go into a post office."

What the heck?

I'm guessing that shipping+insurance+confirmation ( for a pair of shoes ) to Russia will be exorbitant. Something like $100.

Frequent sellers like Vman, mack, and edmorel might know more and I think there's a good thread on shipping experiences.

Same in Canada: no shipping to Russia.

If shipping to Russia then First Class Mail international only with authentic customs tag (don't let them persue you to put a claim lower than the item you sold it for) and no gurantee of shipment or delivery. If something happens to the package, the risk is on them.

However, the few buyers I dealt with internationally on eBay I have had good experience with.

Bumping an old thread as I have interest from a buyer as well. Any more experiences?

I'm not certain, but with the cheap shipping methods (via usps) none of them can give you delivery confirmation there & to a lot of countries, if you want tracking you have to get some expensive method that's an arm & a leg
