Filson 256 or 257 - Page 2

Beautiful bag, just perfect. You made the right choice. Congrats! Nice pics too.. thanks.

The 256 is a little snug for my 15" Macbook Pro in a sleeve. I think the 257 may have been a better choice, in retrospect.

On my quest for the perfect bag, I recently discovered Filson and now can't decide between the 256 or the 257.

The bag needs to be compact and light enough to carry around on a daily basis, holding a leica M camera plus lens, one tiny extra lens, a few rolls of film, a sketchbook, map and maybe a handbook or two. While traveling I would need to fit in a 13" macbook pro plus sleeve and maybe a water bottle alongside my other stuff as well.

So far I've been using a Billingham Packington, but the bag is monstrous and quite heavy, which makes it almost unusable for daily use.

In the picture posted above from sartorialist it seems like the 256 would be sufficient for my needs, especially since the canvas seems rather expandable, but I'm still unsure if maybe the 257 wouldn't be the better investment.

The bag should have roughly these proportions:

Comments anyone?

I have the 257 and think it is much more versatile than the 256. I also think the larger size looks nicer if that makes any sense.

is there a comparable bag to the 257 that can handle the Apple 17" Macbook Pro with sleeve?

My 257 just arrived here at Singapore! I love it! The quality is outstanding for its price! I bought my at solomon outfitters. $219.95 + $25 (Shipping)

Can't wait to bring it out the street!
