Mostly Buttoned if dress more formally. Show the cut better :)
If dress less formal, buttoned or unbuttoned depends on the mood and weather :)

Since I always wear 3 piece suits to work...its easy, UNBUTTONED, and this is one of the benefits of the vested suit

If your suits don't have shape unbuttoned, they might not be shaped very well.

That's true. For most of the suit's history, until (and including) the 1930s, an unbuttoned single-breasted coat was the default style, because wearing a waistcoat was also the default. If your coat is tailored well, it will have plenty of shape when unbuttoned.

Unbuttoned unless it is very windy.

If I'm standing, it's buttoned.

When I only had OTR coats that were way too big for me I would always wear them unbuttoned, as I felt buttoning them exaggerated their size even more. Now I have MTM that fits quite well I try to button most of the time, as I think it looks better.

Definitely buttoned. It gets too flappy otherwise, even if the jacket is a good fit.

Buttoned, unless I can't because it is too small. Yeah, I have a few of those...they are very casual though.
