For chain stitching I've used Blue in Green. It cost $30 and took 5 minutes. I would have thought you could mail them denim but you had better call and find out. For tapering I've always used my local tailor (The Tailoring Room) on the LES. The dude in there knows what he's doing and has never butchered any of my stuff. You could also try something like this or this.

BTW.. I have a pair of the wool officer pants that RKD is wearing in 34 that I'll be selling soon. I got them a while ago off ebay, but have lost weight, so they are too big. Let me know if you're interested.

I noticed that when in J Crew earlier, they had some shitty inferior rip-off of my sweet cotton twill jacket.

Of course, RRL is ripping off a 1958 Montgomery Ward catalog, so I guess it's all good.
