....but yeah..you nailed it ... Rancourt..you can take a look at their moccasins .. pretty much the same..the RRL may be a bit beefier, have the three brass "hardware"/eyeletes, and a different inside but not much different...

I feel like Gollum. I pull them out of the box every few days to look at them and maybe stroke them for a bit before carefully returning my precious ones to that oh-so-cool shoebox.

I just can't bring myself to expose those pristine soles to the outdoors. ;)

This isn't all to say I don't think it's cool, though.  It's a very nice piece - I just question the practicality of some of this stuff sometimes, especially for the price.

It would solve the problem of matching tops and bottoms. Who knows? Maybe everyone will be wearing them in 20 years.

Back in the early 70's, I wore either lederhosen or overalls during the summer. Comfortable and socially acceptable, at the commune, in the fields or on a road trip.

It solves the matching top and bottom problem but introduces problems when pooping.

it's 30 percent plus 10 percent if you sign for their mailing list! since they allow 3 codes at once...you still get the free shipping.

RRL has produced overalls before.  Limited edition, too, I think.  Maybe they'll be releasing some LE authentic workwear lederhosen in upcoming seasons?  They'll be around 2 grand, of course...

ok so i have like 9 different RRL denim jackets, not counting the chore coat variety.
So the last thing i need is another. But i did try this one on and thought, damn, its pretty sweet.
Come sale time if there are any left ill go for it. So it is on sale and I think its a mistake because the disclaimer says no RRL.
And if you search the entire sale its not listed. So if you are tempted, you probably should before they fix the site.
Besides, can you really ever have too many denim jackets? icon_gu_b_slayer[1].gif

Didn't need another denim jacket but $308 + tax and shoprunner 2nd day shipping was too good to pass up.

My wife thinks you can, but I have a weakness for them.

And you people are enablers!

OK, made a deal with myself. If I can sell my Giants-Dodgers tickets for tonight, I'll buy the denim jacket.

(Pathetic; I know.)

You figure that out pretty quickly when you wear coveralls a lot, but a flight suit might be another matter entirely. ;)

I agree.  Snagged this myself.  They're probably wondering why they sold 500 of them in the last couple of days...

Got a similar problem wearing bib cycling shorts.

Our favorite new denim jacket is featured on Heddels today.

RRL has rolled out an impressive take on the Lee 101J, in the form of the Lot 271 Denim Jacket. Similar in style to the iconic Levi’s Type II but with its own rich history and cult following over the last 70 years, the 101J is eminently worthy of such inspired iterations.

RRL’s Lot 271 is constructed with a left-hand twill 13.6oz 3×1 Japanese selvedge denim. Sawtooth detailing runs up the placket, which finishes with a brass button closure and point collar at the neck.

The Lot 271 is a jaunty blend of cowboy and city slicker, with its high contrast stitching, slim fit, and defined double-stitched seams. It’s a solid addition to the more staid, practical silhouettes of fall.

Good description of RRL style; "a jaunty blend of cowboy and city slicker …"

The Purple Label line has a great denim jacket this season: http://www.ralphlauren.com/product/index.jsp?productId=99352206&cp=54803326.54803356&ab=ln_men_cs_jackets&parentPage=family

I saw it at the Chicago Ralph Lauren store and just had to purchase it. It's really elegant in person. Not a cheap one unfortunately but great quality.

Yes on "its own rich history and cult following over the last 70 years"...google "Steve McQueen 101J".....he was a great promoter of the 101J cult among many others, but he was one my inspirations for getting this jacket....
