You should go to New York on the 7th to hit up the RRL store and then go to the styfo meetup after that.

Anybody pick up anything good from the Unionmade archive sale? I got what I'm pretty sure is the matching jacket for the olive herringbone chinos I got a few seasons back as well as an indigo selvedge twill cap I couldn't find in my size a season or two ago.

Ah, I see. It seems like the jacket was a defect/imperfection before it left the factory, since the patch was sewn in upside down.

How is the fit on these 2?

I am not sure. I don't live near a RRL store, so I rely on feedback here and feedback from the SAs at the RRL stores.

They look like similar fits based on the measurements for the medium size, although the Ranch Hand jacket looks longer based on the pic. I tend to be in between medium and large. I go with medium most of the time because there is too much room in the body with the large.

Cooly, can you share your feedback on the fit of the Ranch Hand jacket?

It's looks like a nice casual light-weight jacket that can be worn with denim jeans and chinos. I like the vintage look. The Bedford cord is nice in my opinion because it doesn't have the velvety feel that regular cord has.

Just bought this one myself! I'm a big fan of Bedford cloth and this light jacket is perfect for Northern California.

You are killing me Hank! smile.gif I like the more rugged and western look of the Ranch Hand jacket.

I had posted a pic a while ago...I'll repost below...not sure if this is the best picture of the cotton twill jacket ("ranch hand jacket" in the fall lookbook) ...this picture was really showing the indigo cords (not really centered correctly on the jacket to show it properly).

For whatever reason this jacket seems to be big crowd pleaser ...I think people like the tan/gold color of it...for me, it was a much better option than another jean jacket...

As a somewhat humorous unrelated side note, these very indigo cords have crocked the bottom-inside of this jacket a nice blueish tent...not the outside but all along the bottom of it ...

(actually everything this picture including the belt is Fall RRL except for the red wing blacksmith boots...)

Looking good my friend! I agree, it's definitely a much better option than another denim jacket. It's a rugged western style jacket that can be worn in a business causal office environment, no doubt This one I have a slight edge over the First-Edition, for now smile.gif

looking at getting a new winter coat and ran across this on ebay:

anyone ever handle one of these first hand? it looks great, just want to make sure it will actually function well against full on winter weather. gets to about 0 around here with heavy snow.

Makes perfect sense that there would be a huge demand for western inspired clothing in, uh, Brooklyn?

I'm looking for rrl engineer boots. Kind of confused bc I've read Ralph Lauren had 2-3 diff companies make these? I don't like the newest design. I'd prefer the Julian made or the ones after that as they look better made. Biggest prob I'm having is to figure out how these run in size. I've read to size up, down etc. some input from someone who has a pair or knows about them please help me out. Thanks in advance!

I have the older, slimmer version which I am fairly sure were made by Julian. I really don't like the new version, since it doesn't look anywhere near as fitted or as sleek as the old. It is very difficult to make an engineer boot look "sleek", but this one was fairly close. All I know is that I sized down a half size, and wish I'd sized down a full size, since they are still a little roomy. I believe mine are a 9 1/2D and I probably should have gotten a 9. Happy to post pictures if you like..

Haven't seen this in person but that looks like a good deal for the price.  That being said, if you're in an area with severe winter weather, REI is probably a better bet for reliable gear than RRL.
