I think upon first wear they are definitely true to size, but will stretch.  I am always a 32 and I went with a 31.  I have somewhat of a backside and they're still comfortable, so an ass-less person that wants a skinny fit may size down 2.

did anyone successfully tailor the denim selvedge officer chinos? results?

or more generally how do you successfully instruct a tailor to slim down jeans? how far up from leg opening to thigh does he have to take in? and for waist what do i tell him to do?

any insight would be great thanks!

2nd that.

I got the denim chinos in 34 to accomodate for the thighs, but far too big in the waist and top block. The construction is different from the rigid officer chinos which seem more straightforward to modify.

Froosh, thank-you. That is what I recall others saying (re: field chino sizing) in this thread a while back but I couldn't find the specific posts.

Odd that it is 2-3" above tagged size for some... that means I should be buying a Sz 26-27... Yet 28 is a perfect fit, and 29 gives me room to breath/tuck in shirts. My actual waist size is 29".

Seriously, this is on the Ralph Lauren website. You should check there first. These are also all over ebay.

I totally agree with you, but.. do you not buy and sell RL on ebay yourself? Pretty epic levels of self loathing here.

If you have to try this hard to wear the brand then it's probably not for you. And the dipshit looking for sweatpants and a Henley is just that, a dipshit.

no need to be rude man. First of all, not everyone has the disposable income to buy into RRL, but they love the brand so they do their best to buy what they can. Some of us are resellers who buy up what they can to provide a service to those of us who can't scour outlets etc... There's a reason we don't like Club Monaco, it simply isn't the same style, and definitely not the same quality.

Just to prove a point, I wanted that Fair Isle Cardigan, refused to pay 300+ for it, because frankly I'd rather save than spend, ended up getting it for 135 off a reseller on eBay. Nothing wrong with that at all.

Some of us do have the means to go crazy and buy a lot of RRL from RL's storefronts, and that's terrific, I'm very glad they can and enjoy seeing them enjoy their purchases.

Instead of criticizing, no matter how ridiculous the requests and comments from certain people are, lets see what you can bring to the table...
