I do the same size. The slim fit is a little slimmer, but fits more or less the same in the waist and seat. I say if you have a slim build, go with the same size.

I sized down a half to begin with, but then went a full size down for an even more snug fit with thinner socks. Just know that they fit a little big.

Thank you.  I ordered in a 9 and you are right --- they fit large and they are slightly on the chunky side, although this is something I was actually going for.  Nice soles.  Have to figure out if I can keep them and wear with heavy socks or if they should be returned.  Probably the latter --- too bad, as there aren't any 8.5s left.  I am a little surprised by the fit.  I know many RRL shoes (and items) are not true to size but why can't they make a recommendation (order 0.5 sizes down)?  Other brands do this.  It saves inconvenience, hassle and disappointment.  Anyway, that's the way it goes.

I had the same problem.  I am usually a medium but have found that RRL sweaters are generally too small for me in M, sometimes by a considerable amount.  I bought the fair isle --- which I think is an amazing piece, btw --- in a size L and one initial wash shrunk it down a little so that it is now *just* the slightest bit loose.  I will probably just wash by hand from now on, though I believe the piece is not supposed to shrink much --- I cannot say and I will be cautious about it.

I have 4 RRL sweaters/fleeces and three are in a size L.  I have a cashmere cardigan in an M and it is snug but it works for that piece and I am not worried about ripping it as I do not have to remove it overhead.

Upon re-reading your post, I realize I misunderstood.  I would be cautious if I were you and maybe just wash by hand to be safe.  I have to think that the piece would be very tight on you if you are normally a size L.  Again, I am normally an M and can barely take the M off again once it is on.

Question: Would it be of interest and would enough people turn up if I were to have a Double RL yard sale in the Bay Area?  I have been collecting Double RL since 1993 and have boxes full that I will never get onto ebay.  I have done a couple of ebay sell-offs and even some Good Will runs with stuff over the years but I still have a lot that could go out and be used again.

Size up.  I'm a 30 in low straight and 31 in slim fit.  I have many pair of both, and it's always been this way.  Beware the calf in the slim fit is very small, which has always been an issue for me.  I actually prefer the 32 slim fit for the calf, but don't need the inch in the waist.

Post a list or at least an idea of what sizes :) 

Sounds intriguing but I am far from the bay area...

Quick rant.

I just started buying RRL, and mostly all on the website. I've had pretty much every problem in the book from them sending me the wrong items, forgetting to send items all together, shoes with missing shoelaces, belts with no tags, taking over a week to ship out, and the list goes on.

Placed a large order the day this sale started, about 10 minutes after it was on the website.

Just got an email for 6 (different) of the higher price items I ordered saying they are out of stock. 5 days after I placed the order. One of the items I ordered 3 of, and all 3 orders were cancelled (so obviously they had more than 1 in stock...but they won't even ship me 1)

It's just so frustrating...I don't understand how they operate like this. had to rant somewhere! haha

Don't know if they have this kind of problem normally, but certainly sounds like they haven't been able to keep up with the rush this time of year.

I guess I've beeen lucky, but then again I haven't ordered that much.

Ya...I seem to be cursed with this stuff. haha.

The item I bought 3 of remained "available" to buy on the site 2 full days after I purchased it...and now they cancel all 3 of those items. Just don't understand how you can have THAT big of an inventory problem...

Oh well I guess.

Unfortunately the website is really my only practical means of buying RRL. If it wasn't I definitely wouldn't use it.
