thank gad. austin has SUCKED this summer. it's 95 and i feel like i need a jacket.

Dude nice Ostrich boots - deets?. I totally need to get some of those, have a pair of Lucchese in calfskin and a lizard from Tony Llama. My boot jeans are the RRL Dungarees (cut very similar to Slim Bootcut) but I'm thinking about getting a pair of low straights - good to see that you're able to fit those over the boots without issue. Tried some on at STAG over on Congress and they seemed like they would work over boots as well.

Hit up Ralph Lauren at Ala Moana mall in Honolulu.
They had quite a bit of RRL marked way down.
Picked up several Kon Tiki shirts (around $50), some shorts, and some grey slim fits ($108).
There was a rack full of white Officer's pants and funky sailor style. Also some denim straights in a washed finish, and some brown straights.

I'm still looking for this specific cap (any colorway is fine), size Large. Anyone seen one in the current seasons being sold in RRL shops right now?

Thanks.

I think I saw this at the Honolulu store. They had this in black/white tweed.
It's the newsboy style that makes you look like Toad from Super Mario, rather than a flatter driving cap.
They had large. I think it was around $125.

Yeah lucchese classics ostrich ropers from 5-6 seasons ago. The leg opening on these 30s is less than 8 and boots aren't a problem at all. I have some pics with a size 31 (leg opening is a bit bigger) somewhere in the thread and they work with those too.

edit: here's a pic with the 31 one wash

nice pull!

I would've asked you to proxy for me if they have any of the raw low straights or slim fits on sale, but I guess they never go on sale.....

Sorry, this has probably been covered a ton, but the wash "Rigid" is actually Raw correct?

Thanks!

Rigid is the unwashed variant and Rinse is the one wash variant. Both are considered "raw" jeans. Rinsing raw jeans, they are still considered raw.

The Rinse version uses 14oz denim while the Rigid uses 12oz (I believe.) This is partly due to the fact Rinse has already been shrunken making the denim heavier (shrinking denim makes it heavier) while Rigid sanforized can still shrink 3-5% after 1-2 washes. It's possible the rinse denim is still a little heavier to begin with or they could be identical I'm not entirely sure. I own them both and can say that the rinse version feels heavier and a little more durable while the rigids feel a little on the flimsy side even after a few washes.

Sizing for Rinse is generally 1" larger than tag while Rigid is 2" larger than tag (should shrink a size after a wash but will stretch out again.) while Rinse you can buy true to size and don't have to worry about sizing issues. Fading ends up being similar for both over the long run, except the rigid pairs might have a bit more contrast to them due to the sharper creases that form from the denim being starched and unwashed. If you like to wash more often than 6 months, you would probably be better off with the Rinsed jeans..

I'm 99% sure that the denim weights for Rigid and Rinse (One Wash) are identical. The only difference is that the Rinse is rinsed once in cold water and baked dry, which does cause some shrinking. But after 20 wears or so, it will stretch out just as much as the Rigid will. From what I understand, the Low Straight Rigid and Rinse are 14.5 oz denim while for the slim fit Rigid it is 14oz while the Rinse is 14.5 oz. I'm not 100% positive on that last part though.

Thank you very much for the info!!

Those are orange cargo shorts, from Kon Tiki.

And yeah, that slim fit looks really awkward. I don't recommend getting slim fit unless you have relatively skinny legs, the cut is so slim that if you have any sort of thigh/calve muscles that sizing up to fit into the thigh/lower leg alters the intended fit. No hate, but the top of those slim fits looks like what an +1/+2 sized straight leg pair would look like

One of the only good things they put on the new site is the visual fit guide and it shows the intended fit, from slimmest to fullest. I would estimate the pants being tagged 30 for the Low Straight/Straight Leg, Probably 28 or 29 for the Slim Fit and Bootcut. The guy wearing the slim fits is pretty skinny.
