only big deal cuz its an election year and politicians used it as fuel for the fire of our bad economy. if our economy was flying high, no one would care who or where it was made (at least it wouldn't be on front page of news)

Not about the politicians, all about the economy and jobs. This is an example of what stuff like the Occupy movement and Tea Partiers CAN do across the board. Even people who are of the ilk that "All these bums should get a job" are at least talking about jobs in America and corporate profits. Now that they see these uni's were made in China, Tea Partiers AND the Occupy crowd can jump all over it.

im all for made in US ... doesn't really matter why or who is making it happen

BUT its pretty ridic to hold RL to this standard ONLY when past uni's and even current sponsors are all made outside of US and its been like that since forever

maybe this RL announcement will turn the tide and even NIKE will make things in US

I think when you're the "Official" outfitter of the US Olympic team, people see it differently. This is part of capitalism, if the people don't like it they won't buy, survival of the fittest. Fortunately, for Ralph, most Americans are too self-absorbed to even remember this the next time they see a sale at Macy's. Nike is the athletes choice, RL was the USOC choice...I think thats the difference.

Nike is both a "Domestic" Sponsor and an official outfitter along with RL

but i guess you can make the argument that sporting equipment is different since there is virtually no sporting equipment manufacturer that is wholly in the US. anyway Nike should take take the pledge too. it can't be that hard to make olympic gear for the athletes and stuff in US. they can still make billions off their normal wares from made in mexico and china smile.gif

I have a feeling it will just be the Olympic line, not just for the athletes. If everything shifted to USA, the company would take a huge financial hit, as they're charging Made in USA prices for Made in China (quality mind you) goods. Its simple, for the most part, it's cheaper to make things in China than it is to do so here. Especially like it is now, in the clothing industry, the quality is comparable.

If rl_store has it on ebay its probably long gone from stores.

I went looking all over for those leather jackets and others. Didn't find any. It's possible my store got one or 2, but they will look for a more opportune time to put them out. Or they put them out  2 weeks ago and they long sold. I wasn't traveling at that time.

Though, the probability RL_store finding 3 of them in S,M,L at outlets is unlikely, he could have picked them up during the Soiffer Haskin sale, where there were reportedly a ton of RRL leather jackets and only got around to sticking them up now.
