What do you drink with your Cigars?

I started another "Inexpensive Cigars" thread and thought it would be cool to see what people generally drink with their cigars. I didnt drink anything before, but I found that my mouth would get pasty.

I like to drink water with my cigars now.

My friend enjoys it with Grape Soda.

What does everyone else pair their cigars with?

Coffee

Bourbon

- Cognac - Bourbon cocktail (old fashioned, manhattan) if I can be bothered to make it - A dry gin martini I'm beginning to like rum if I have access to a high quality dark sipping rum. Goes very nicely

When I was in Mexico, it was Tecate or Corona with lime, sometimes Rum Coca with lime. Perfect for hot weather. In Paris, I've been drinking the wine already opened for dinner, but have found that in the case of almost all the reds, the flavour of the cigar is overpowered. Maybe a very mild pinot would work. Don't seem to have this problem with the whites, but then they don't pair very well with the nutty/chocolatey/coffee/woody/leathery flavours of the cigar. Guess I should stick to hard liquor? I found that sipping straight XO Pyrat rum at home was very pleasant, but again I'm not sure it paired. As for non-alcoholic drinks, I haven't yet had the chance to try coffee alongside a cigar, but chocolat viennois (essentially hot chocolate) goes quite well, though very bitter dark chocolate (with whole cocoa beans in it, my favourite) overpowers the cigar even more than red wine.

Depends on the season and time of day; but I've paired cigars with Coffee, tea, scotch, gin and tonic, stouts, porters, IPAs, Bloodies, Pimm's Cup, et cetera.

Generally the sweeter, lighter drinks call for a mild cigar like a Davidoff or an Ashton. Coffee, Scotches and dark beers are paired with Cubans and maduros.

Why would you want to smoke a mild cigar, though?

I have been rummaging through cigar forums, and the possibilities are endless. There are people who smoke while drinking water, coke, spirits, wines, coffees and so on. It truly is a personal choice.

I almost exclusivley drink honest tea (black lemon) when I smoke. It is one of my favorite beverages. If I am drinking I will usually go with a rum on the rocks or rum and coke (if I dont have good rum). In the summer I may go with a mojito or a daquari cocktail.

Im not much of a drinker (alcohol). I dont really appreciate it, so I consider it a waste to buy good alcohols. But seems like most of you drink it with scotches and so on.

I do like my coffees though. I just havent had the chance to drink it together with a cigar...
