Bespoke shirt, reinforced placket- does it make a difference? - Page 2

Berg makes an excellent shirt.
I believe they refer to the stich on the sleeve placket 7th photo down.

I think the the extra cost on this shirt, due to the hand stitching is a complete waste.
the regular machine stitched shirt is very well made.
the hand stiched embriorded gusset is strictly decorative and serves no purpose.

I guess it is time to post the pictures of the lanvin shsirt. where hand stitiching is discrete and not obvious.

I think there is "too much" in this shirt, if you know what I mean. I could live without reinforcements, split yoke, gussets. The one thing i could kill for is collar. I like the close stitching, soft feel, and the wavy shape of it.

I would assume that the collar is available in their regular program.

The style "Milano", yes. The construction, no. No in Poland anyway. Only in bespoke service.

I love it.

Ok, Well I know it is an old thread, but I think I have the answer. I think the placket is reinforced so that if the top buttons are worn undone the collar will tend to collaps down at the front. Reinforcing the placket (along with cutting a good shape collar band) will help keep the collar up and the edge of the shirt straighter.

Does that make sence?
