No comment on DB, but regarding flannel and hunting grounds, I can only assume that THIS is what you have in mind: That's what many people in American culture think 'flannel' means. Needless to say, they (and you) are under a misapprehension.

I think both SB and DB are viable candidates for flannel, but for SB it should be a 3pc to make it more utilitarian.

A double-breasted flannel suit is a wonderful thing, but I'd love a single-breasted flannel suit with patch pockets, double-stitching, and swelled edges.

I dont know that flannel looks better double breasted. Rather, I think Double breasted suits look better in flannel.
