Here in Michigan, Central Michigan was/is the Chippawas, seeing as the school is near/on the Chippawa reservation. The school made the students stop with Chippawa references and go to Chips, which is stupid. What's the mascot going to be, a big Lays potato chip? The Chippawas said the name wasn't a big deal but said they'd prefer that fans don't disrespect them with offensive "war chants" and dress. I think they're still the Chips though
Florida State University changed their logo to be more PC about twenty years ago - and they should have, even I thought it was a little offensive. They have a bunch of statues honoring Seminoles on campus, built the Seminole tribe a hospital out on the reservation a few years ago, offer a full-ride to any Seminole Indian, have a moment of respect for the tribe before every home game, donate a percentage of ticket revenue to the Tribe, let them design an alternative uniform, etc. etc. etc.
So yeah, the Seminole Indian tribe loves FSU.
Yet every year about ten sorry-ass white kids hold some over-the-top protest. It's been good the past few years though, the University surrounded the kids with a chain link fence (a cage, essentially) to hold the protest in. It was also funny one year to get to the game late and see the kids change out of their t-shirts and head on in to watch the game.
The second of our three logos and the offensive one:

I'm sure you're all glad for this update on FSU.
