Does anyone else hate "Facebook models?"

Whats with girls getting their pictures taken by some crappy "professional" photographers and posting their photos all over Facebook? Do they know that this does not make them models? Why do they take so many of these pictures? Who is buying them pictures of 24 year olds in cliche poses and backdrops in Steve Madden shoes?

I was not aware of this phenomena. Please post examples of said pictures so that I may judge.

Wait, you're unhappy that chicks found yet another novel way to display their bodies on the internet? We're definitely not from the same clan, I hate you.

No no no. I mean the semi-attractive ones that get yearbook-quality photos taken of them doing not-hot things like running in a field of flowers or other cheesy crap.

These girls develop attitudes and consider themselves models and drone on and on about their
"morning photo shoots" and won't date "normal guys" anymore.

By "normal guys" do you mean those that troll around facebook looking for semi attractive women to ask out on dates and then complain about their crappy photo they have up?

I've honestly never encountered this before. I've seen a lot of girls do the wanna-artsy photos, but that's about it. Otherwise I'm friends with a model who posts here pictures on facebook... I don't know of anybody who goes inbetween.

Pick new female facebook friends?

The term "facebook model" made me think of the cliched myspace "holding the camera at a 60 degree angle", but since it was facebook, perhaps the angle was a bit more toned down, maybe no more than 45 degree.

This phenomenon has been going on for quite some time. I mean, on one hand, it's nice to see girls all glammed-up with crystal clear photography; on the other, a number of these girls are pretty average IRL. Do not want.

I make it a point ti display my lack of normalcy so that women will love me or throw me out of their party for critiquing their bland interior decoration.

I don't think you're quite comprehending what I'm getting at. I think Neo has the idea of what I'm talking about.

Evidently this trend hasn't been as mainstream as I thought. I thought it was already kind of a big joke to everyone seeing these chicks get all full of themselves because some douchebag with a $300 camera wants to put them in his "portfolio" (read: spank bank)...

I knew a group of girls that used to do this and actually introduced themselves to people as models.

they're the other end of the douchebag with the $500 dslr who takes shitty photos of everything imaginable and fancies himself a "photographer" even though he has squat talent

I am vaguely aware of what you're talking about.

1 - girl pays photog to take some pics 'for her portfolio'
2 - girl posts up pics on social networking site
3 - girl says she's 'working on my modeling career' instead of going to college or having a real job
4 - ???????
5 - result:

couldn't find any examples offhand

At least a 'pro' drastically cuts back on the pouty-face.

Because of the exposure of shows like America's Next Top Model, more and more girls want to be models.. or at least have the distinction of calling themselves one. It's just the lazy way of people today..most girls think it's all glamour, fame and tons of cash (the ones who wise up to this soon enough usually turn to porn, where the real money, fame and.. fun? is). It's hard work.. you get jerked around by agencies.. long hours, boring work, and you rarely (like <1%) make it to anything worth staking a living on. Plus because it's so damn competitive.. good luck even getting hired by an agency nowadays. And I agree wholeheartedly that most girls who call themselves "models" are nothing short of over make-upped, air brushed, boring people. Most succesful models at least have a personality.. or Blue Steel. And don't even get me started on the stupid trend of being a photographer. Everyone just wants to make a name for themselves nowadays.
