So, what's the verdict on these shoes, J?

The soles measure 11-9/16" long and 4" straight across, but 4-1/4" across the widest measurement (not sure how to do that properly). They seem to match up to your UK 8. As I said they have a couple of relatively minor flaws. I will post more pics soon to add to the shoe porn madness and show them a bit better. Maybe I'll dig out those McAfees and give them a proper showing in naturlaut's thread as well. Edit: actually, maybe they are a narrow size (UK D). Can someone explain how to measure a shoe's width? And what size, approximately, the sole of an EG 202 UK 8D would be? Thanks.

Frankly, there just isn't a great way to measure a SHOE. The measurements should be done on a last, which (of course) is inelastic. However, to get as close as you can without the last, measure the outer widest part of the upper across the creases (widest part) with a precision caliper and subtract about 1.5 or 2 mm to compensate for the thickness of the total upper. Stuck? Then just sell the shoes "as is" and worry about the rest later.

I will email EG after the forum move. (I already wrote the email, but I don't want to point them to a dead link.) They should be able to shed some light on decoding the markings and what size the shoes are.

Brilliant. It's so simple it's complex...or is it so complex it's simple?
