Why do you have to mow his lawn?? Isn't buying him a beer enough?

I loved Day of Defeat mod for Half Life. Not that I cared about immersing myself in the WW2 experience, but I loved playing as an Axis soldier because the Karbiner was the most awesome fps gun ever since the Quake 2 rail gun.

Loved Day of Defeat because the multiplayer player gameplay was the best, hands down.

I got this when I read about how realistic it was, and true to WWII combat. I have a new found respect for vets, because apparently they must have board to tears during that war.

Axis and Allies.

I really liked the original day of defeat release at 1.0 before steam came out...1.1 killed it.

I have since caught on to some DOD:S which despite its similarities to DOD 1.1, I have found a good group to play it with.

The last few days I have been playing the Battlefield Heroes beta (get your beta key from gamespot and you do not have to wait...just google it). Cartoony WWII action

Best World War II game:

First, buy some plastic toy weapons, preferably machine guns and pistols. Next, gather all your friends in someone's yard or a nearby vacant lot. Then, choose sides. (You'll need to flip a coin to see which team gets to be the U.S. Army, and which team gets stuck being the Germans or the Japanese). After that, the war begins!

Keep playing until everyone's dead or until your Mom calls you in for dinner, whichever comes first.

Yeah, I love RO but I can admit it's an acquired taste. It's nowhere near as impenetrable as, say, World War 2 Online, but it's pretty rough.
