As barbers die and stylists leave, I have gone back and forth between salons and barber-shops. Presently I go to a new place that is a bit of a hybrid of the two. Good scenery, with a touch of the old fashioned barber shop thrown in, and they do most of the cut with scissors, especially the finish . . . which I obsess about. If a place asks me what number I like, it's generally the last time I go there. I once had an evening wedding in Chicago, and although I had shaved early that morning, by about 3:00 I had a little stubble, so I went to Truefitt & Hill, explained to the guy that I had shaved earlier, and just wanted a reshave to beat back the stubble. He proceeded to shave me within a nanometer of my life against the grain . . . I think I was referred to as "lobster boy" at the wedding.

Do you go to a barbershop or a frou-frou salon? I go to the latter, namely Avant, one of the Top 10 salons in the country and certainly the best one in town.
In my bathroom.

in vietnam - this ought to make you jealous..... 50000 Vietnam dong at a salon includes hair cut, hairwash, face wash, face massage, shave and one hour body massage in a reclined barbers chair.
Hmm, m@T, you had me beat in price but not in service. They clean the ear canal for me too(using some kind of device that applies pressure to the ears).

I get my hair cut at a barber shop by a 30 year old Italian guy named Tony.

I tell him to cut it so that it looks "business-like" and "wall-street". He does a perfect job.

He also gives good straight razor shaves.

Straight razor shaves, eh? Part of a dying breed (in the USA at least). Enjoy!

I cut my own whenever it feels too long and when I'm not in Asia as I've had a hell of a time trying to find someone who can handle Asian hair well in the US.

I go to a barber when i have hair long enough

right now i shave it down to a #1, attempt to do a fade on the back, it looks alright, and its free

at my barber, who i have been going to for 6 years, i am still charged 19 bucks, maybe in another 10 or so years ill be getting 15 dollar haircuts from him!

Salon. My philosophy on haircuts is that if she's not hot enough for me to momentarily forget I'm happily committed when she's running her hands through my hair, she's not hot enough to cut it.

I go to an old-school Greek barber. He has somewhat questionable bathing habits and is a terrible conversationalist. He charges $10 and does a fantastic job.

I haven't cut my hair in almost two years.

All I'm saying is don't trust a bald lesbian to cut your hair. I asked for an inch off, she cut it down to an inch. Bye bye pompadour. Yeah, no buzz-cut disciples of sappho for me.

Be glad it was merely your hair.
