Parks in Manhattan

I am looking for some cool parks to hang out in manhattan. Of course I know the usual central, east end, bryant, et cetera, but I am looking for more of a smaller more neighborhood park where I can hang out, have a cigar, and people watch. Any recommendations?

Riverside Park north of 96th Street is great. Local park, no turists, there is an outdoor bar at around 105 that overlooks the Hudson. There are tons of athletic fields and a beautiful, wide, treelined walk way as well as access to the trail that goes right along the hudson. You will not be disapointed.

I live a block away from greenacre, I love it, such a great park. Only problem is no smoking.

Take the A Train to 190th Street in Washington Heights and enjoy Fort Tryon Park. While crowds visit the Cloisters, many areas in the park are truly undiscovered even by most Manhattanites and a pleasure to hang out in.

Another idea is to walk the Greenway, the pedestrian and bike path that parallels the West Side Highway which passes through all of the river-edge parks along the Hudson. You have the views, the breeze, a mix of intimate and open areas and all those people to watch.

Madison Square Park... you can look at the womenz who eat at Shake Shack. Also... that park in Tudor City is awesome!!! I eat lunch there all the time (i smoke my cigs there... so i would assume u can smoke). Just act like a big timer and you will fit right in.
