Heh, I agree to an extent. Dude's hit or miss in his writing.

even though it has been sleep inducing every time i have picked it up, maybe i will try to get through the book again before the movie comes out.

I know that on a certain level the book is supposed to be about the survival of hope and love in a world of utter bleakness, but I still found the book so damned downbeat I'm going to pass on the movie I think.

I have heard they're also making a movie of his Blood Meridian. I'd like to see that although, as I think I have said before, Judge Holden makes Anton Chigurh look like someone you'd want your daughter to date!

Bringing this back up.

Early word says that they stuck to the book, though it looks like the added to the mother character. Here's an interview with McCarthy and Hillcoat.

Looking forward to this.

Comforting to know Charlize Theron is still around for the end of civilization.

Finally saw it. Shocked how closely it followed the book and how unHollywood the whole thing was. I'll bet there was a lot of hand-wringing around the studio when the dailies started flowing in. Go see it. lefty

Excellent. It's out here on 12 December. My major worry was that it was sexed up with pointless action, romance and melodrama.
