I find it kind of funny that people from Columbus, who consider that place a city and urban, are just getting their first Five Guys, when there are 3 different Five Guys locations within 10 minutes of my office (and 1 location within about 3 minutes) in good old New Jersey.

The chains/gentrification have just started out here in the last couple years, we aren't a "strip mall" type city. Street front buildings, local restaurants and cafes, art galleries, etc. etc.

Having chain restaurants is what qualifies you as an urban city? The chains/gentrification have just started out here in the last couple years, we aren't a "strip mall" type city. Street front buildings, local restaurants and cafes, art galleries, etc. etc. Not to mention five guys is an east coast thing, and Columbus is in the mid west

No - having people is what qualifies us as an urban area.

My point is only that Midwest "cities" (other than Chicago) are full of suck. What makes a place urban is being able to find anything you want, whether it be chains, local places, exotic places, etc. That tends to only happen in places with high population densities. Chains don't open up in places like Columbus because they feel that there are not enough people around for the location to make money.

Different, not better IMO. In-N-Out is straightforward and simple -- pretty healthy as far as fast food goes. Great burgers, not so great fries. Five Guys has more options for the burgers and fries are excellent. As an aside, I brought a Five Guys burger on one of my IAD-SFO flights last fall -- with all the drooling, I could have sold it for a tidy profit but I was too hungry... ______________________ FS: Tumi T3 22" expandable wheeled carry-on w/suiter http://www.styleforum.net/showthread.php?t=119048

Whatever, I grew up in Chicago and my family still has an apartment there. You can't compare the cities, obviously Chicago is larger 100x. Columbus has 3,556.1 people/sq mi .. and 95% of those people live within an area of 20% of the city. Columbus is a SMALL urban city. I can get anything I want within 1 mile from my door step which can't be said about most cities from amazing goat cheese made with out preservatives to a pair of APC jeans. (Good luck saying that about Chicago) And we have Jenni's ice cream, which alone makes us the best

Yeah, I'm only half serious half the time. I'm sure Columbus is swell.

What an excellent idea. This is exactly what I did today. I got one small bacon cheeseburger with lettuce tomato mayo and ketchup, and one small cheeseburger with jalepeno and bbq sauce.

Fuck. Yes.

Totally forgot about Five Guys. So glad that they have a place on the Island.

I always forget what toppings the have, but I usually go for a cheeseburger with bacon, jalapenos, lettuce, and tomato. Might have to try the A1. Fries are money too. Didn't realize they could come cajun, though.

I'm glad I could be at your service. Which 5 Guys Jersey locations are you talking about? The only ones I'm aware of are Hackensack and Nanuet, NY.

The one closest to my office is in Vauxhall, which is part of Union. There is one in Watchung and one in Woodbridge. There is also one opening soon in Westfield. All of those are less than 10 miles from my office.

Is it really worth going to? I know there is one in orlando somewhere and was thinking of dropping by when i was in town next. I've heard that it's really mediocre. I mean, better compared to mcdonalds, bk, backyard burger, wendys, etc... and possibly better that shitty bland chain places, but that it was just "alright". What should i expect or order when i go? There is a bomb ass place near me in gainesville that has been open since 1924 and their prices are still like $1.50 for a burger so i'm spoiled. How much do the burgers cost?

I think it is slightly better. Five Guys fries however, trounces In-N-Out's. http://www.styleforum.net/showthread.php?t=76211

i actually like the in-n-out fries. Well done animal style, eat them with a fork. Five guys has the more traditional, thicker chips though.

It's good as far as nationwide (or largely available) quick burgers go. It's probably the best chain burger, IMO. Burgers are about $3.50-$4, and that's for the bacon cheeseburger, which is actually bacon, two pieces of cheese and two patties. Whenever I go there, I get a bacon cheeseburger, a bunch of toppings that are all free, drink, and small fries for about $7. If you have a place you love, then it probably won't beat that, but it's worth checking out at least. There are better burgers in Chicago, but there aren't better chain burgers. Nawwwwmean?

There is one on Polaris parkway.
