And the greatest song ever is...... - Page 3

My favorite rock song would be 'Brand New Cadillac' by the Clash:  it's not 'great' (i.e., grand) but it's a perfect example of the genre:  fast, meaningless, blazing guitars and pounding drums, and a dirty word for the rebel in you.
Nice... I love that song so much.

This changes all the time, but if you want to talk rock song, almost nothing does it for like like The Who - Baba O'Reilly. That song live is like lightning in a bottle. Their version at Madison Square Gardens right before old thunderfingers died is incredible... still sends chills up my spine when Townshend hits those power chords after the opening verses.

The greatest song ever composed or written was undoubtedly: Elogy in G Minor Rachmaninov OR: Gnossiennes No. 1 - 5 Erik Satie Both are brilliant jewels in an otherwise foul and deluded century. How interesting then to note that were both were composed in times of great personal duress.

PS - I should add here, speaking of great music, that thacrozaag or whatever his name is (Koji Attwood), played quite possibly the most moving rendition of Etude Op 10 No 4 by Chopin that I have ever heard. As my current lady friend and I both noted, it had quite a punk-rawk feel to it, very lively, beautifully rendered, it was perfection. Thank you Koji for sharing it on your site (the whitekeys site). Am listening to the mp3 now as I regenerate user passwords.
