Going to China? Let me know if you're in Beijing.

You haven't met the parents before, but I'd bet my right nut that the dad plays golf of some kind. Find out his size and get him a pair of golf shoes, or other golf related clothes that will fit him. For the mom, you can't go wrong with designer handbags! What will really impress them is rather than buy them expensive designer crap, if you get a chance to go to a store before you go there, pick up one of the gift-boxes of fruit. Don't skimp, get like the nicest gift boxes you can find (either fruit or tea). They'll really appreciate that, and they'll know exactly how much you spent on it as well (thus, don't skimp!). Regardless though, expect to be at an arms length of them for a while and for them to dislike you (it might be obvious, it might not be) but as long as you're a nice guy and you treat them with respect and try to get to know them, they'll accept you as family eventually.

You should make them a gift- a crafty project of some artistic sort. I'm sure they would treasure something that you put your heart and creativity into. Booze, gold, honey, and seasoned oils come and go, but a watercolor painting taped to the fridge lasts a golden lifetime. I know this type of gesture is cherished by Korean parents of women dating non-Korean men.

True to this. When my sister was in Korea for a year one of her friends, a black guy, really liked this Korean girl. He brought it up and the girl said she couldn't date him because he was black...

Oddly enough, one of my Korean mom's best friends is a Japanese woman.

EXPENSIVE fruit basket is great. Korean friends always bring something like that when visiting.

+1 for expensive fruit baskets. That's pretty much standard operating procedure.

I'm gonna guess you've never met a Korean in your life.

Very expensive scotch. They especially love Ballentines. Anything with a well-known designer label. Perhaps an expensive tea. Expensive fruit would work, but you couldn't take that on the plane. Is your home area known for anything? I'm from Kentucky, so I have given out bourbon in the past. Probably best to ask the girlfriend. And don't buy pepper.
You realize it is a very serious deal meeting the parents, right?

I'd buy them a plane ticket and a green card so that they could move to a real country.
