I hit the wall at the gym today

Not literally, but by the last 10 minutes of my workout this morning I felt like I could drop dead any second. It was all I could do to finish deadlifts and abs and stumble over to the treadmill for a slow walk... felt like puking. I think my problem may be overtraining, or the fact that I ran suicides and jumped rope for the fist 20 minutes of the day which kicked my ass before I got started with weights. I usually have a scoop of n.o. explode and a protein shake about 30 minutes before getting started, but maybe that's not enough or else I gotta slow things down. I hate getting old, I feel like such a pussy sometimes. I tell myself I must be making progress (I am) but damn it is slow. What should I do to keep the energy level up for my full 60 minute workout? More supps? Caffeine? I'm already supping with creatine, BCAs, etc. to help with extra push and recovery. Magic bullet anyone?

Damn, I was hoping you meant literally.

Sounds like acute overtraining- maybe chronic too. Certainly doing a load of anaerobic exercise before lifting is going to affect your strength and endurance, especially if that's not your normal routine.

I don't take supplements, so I can't speak to your mix of concoctions.

Also, do you eat much raw spinach? If yes, don't.

do cardio after weights. zaps all your strength.

caffeine always gives me a nice shot of energy. although you may be hesitant because you're already taking a lot. not a huge fan of NO-xplode.

just give your body a rest. listen to your body, nothing wrong with that.

also stop wasting your money on that NO xplode. You can get the same effect for 1/50th the price.

What would you suggest?

Save the cardio for post workout. Especially if your doing high intensity stuff like suicides. Complex carbohydrates. I like to grind them to a powder and put them in my shake. A lot of people recommend simple carbs pre-workout do to their quick digesting properties but complex seems to work better for me.

Definitely. And I find that a large coffee is much more effective than NO Explode or any of that stuff. Caffeine always works.

Rnning out of gas is not a sign of over-training... just that you didn't have enough fuel in your tank.

I agree. Drink more coffee and make sure you've eaten enough.

I read somewhere too that it would boost your metabolism if you do 30-40 minutes of weights first before doing cardio, which makes sense and its what I do and am seeing good results. I've lost 12 kg in the past 4 months. My goal right now is to reduce some more body fat.

If you are feeling plain lazy by all means push yourself a bit harder but if you are feeling dizzy or nauseus, you should immediately stop training and rest. Continueing to train is not only stupid but counter productive and defeats the purpose. You train/exercise to become healthier, its a long term goal. You have good days and you have bad days at the gym, its just the way it is. You need to listen to your body.

Finally all I can say is get enough sleep and enough fuel for your body before you train, also have less sex including masturbation. "women make your legs weak".

I find that sex (including whacking it) before efforts that require a lot of complex mental operation hinders me. But I don't find that I'm weaker when I'm splooging frequently.
