Travel hat recommendation please

Thread Starter
Does anyone know of a good looking hat that is tough enough for travel and will provide me some protection from the sun and rain when I sightsee and hike?

I realize this:

meets my needs but I really can't bring myself to wear one.

A foldable panama hat. Something like this: http://www.lockhatters.co.uk/Monte_C...lder-P109.aspx

if you want something a little "tougher" or for worse weather you can get foldable/crushable wool felt hats - think indiana jones hats. I am not sure what they are called, I have one from my local outdoor shop and it has survived a lot of hiking etc.

Get yourself a Tilley Endurable's L5 (I think that's the model #)...it looks great, will protect you from the sun and rain and, should it ever wear out, they will replace it! How's that for good value?

I really like this otto green Filson hat.

A linen cap, simple, nice and perfect for sun (and hot) not so for rain, but you can't really have both and IMHO for rain nothing is better than an umbrella or a roof .

+1 on the linen hat. Though a panama hat is really the perfect warm weather hat, if you can pull it off (most people can't).

I have a foldable/crushable Dobbs "pocket hat" trilby that is durable enough without being heavy and seems resistant enough for the rain on first glance - a field test is forthcoming

I have one of these:

It does not look as if you were going camping in the wilderness and can be folded. Before you decide a hat purchase, I recommend trying it on in the shop.

I have a crushable Brosalino fur felt fedora. Excellent hat, but not suitable for the warmer months.

I own the LT3 Airflo and it's a great warmer weather hat.
