need two recs from the cologne mafia

1. eau sauvage is my current favorite fragrance but i can't buy it because it does not last on me. i have some aqua di gio that i recieved as a gift, and it also does not last more than a couple of hours. i tried wearing the after-shave together with many sprays of the edt, but while the scent is stronger, it does not last longer. so my question is, is there something out there that smells like eau sauvage, but with more staying power?

2. i also like kenzo tokyo a lot (and it lasts), enough to buy it, except that it is just a touch too unisex. is there something very similar to it that is a bit more masculine?

Not sure about eau savage but if you want something like Acqua di Gio but with better sillage, longevity, and overall smell go with Halston Unbound. It's only about $20 for 3.3 oz.

i actually don't like acqua di gio. i wear it because it was a gift. i was just using it as an example that using more and layering the edt with the aftershave does not make the scent last longer.

hmmm.... Eau Sauvage is a pretty well standard cologne but there are a few reasonable smell-alikes. One person who grew anosmic to ES adopted Signoricci as his signature scent, as they're somewhat similar. Too bad Signoricci is discontinued (but it is fantastic).

Three current-production options I've not tried but have read about include:

O de Lancome (marketed towards women, but so what?)
Diorella (a tad melon-y, so I hear)
Chanel Cristalle in the EdT formulation (EdP is too different)

Of the three, I'd try Cristalle first.

re: Kenzo Tokyo - have not tried, but the descriptors sounds a bit like Herrera for Men (ginger, citrus) and to a lesser extent, Caron Third Man. Third Man, though, is hardly manly at all - between the ginger and jasmine, there's not much butching-up to do.

I love Dior's Eau Sauvage which launched in 1966. Unfortunately as with most citrus scents, the longevity is not very good. This is one problem I have with Lorenzo Villoresi's L'Uomo. I would recommend and see if you can get a sample of Montale's Soleil di Capri . You can try http://www.suravionline.com/ and request a sample. It is a citrus scent but the composition is unique and it is by far, the longest lasting citrus scent I have. If you like Lime/Citrus scent, you can also try Bond No.9's Nouveau Bowery. It last a good four hours on me.

thanks for that. i'm ordering a mini of the signoricci to try it out. i will also give the herrera a try. i have a feeling i've tested it before and did not like it, but i'll make sure.
