(Fabienne @ June 23 2005,08:17) There is this perception out there that most women are disatisfied with their body image, whereas men don't seem to be concerned with how they are perceived nearly as much. In a forum such as this one, I think it would be interesting to see how you would rate yourself.  Do you feel most men's assessment of how they look is accurate?  I'm talking physical features and style, here.
Fabienne, as a european woman living in the states: do you think that American males are more or less obsessed with their own looks and styel than european males ?
I would say far less on average. Seldom do I see a man on the street in the US (and I do travel quite a bit) and think "He took some care in selecting his clothes this morning". It happens all the time in Paris, for example. The other thing is haircuts. Really boring, in the US (again, generalizing).

I am always fascinated at how European men are so willing to go out on limb with elaborate haircuts - I will often see a haircut that I like, and toy with the idea of trying it, and then decide to go back to the haircut that I have been getting since I was 22. My wife very much wants me to grow my hair much longer. on the other hand, there is something solid and masculine about having a simple haircut, just not very elegant.

On the the other hand, it seems that American men are more concerned with being muscular and all. I remember my first school day in California(I was 13): everyone asked me why I was so skinny. Nobody had ever mentioned that in Belgium.
