office workout

Thread Starter
I'm a college student with an office job wherein I have far too much free time.

On the upside I have my own office so I figured I'd channel some of that free time into exercise.

Aside from knocking out a few sets of push ups/crunches per day does anyone have any suggestions?

p.s. I'm taking up running in my spare time. Don't need advice there but I figured I'd let you know for purposes of soreness/workout redundancy.

grab one of those iron gym things and you can do chins, pull ups and dips. would they allow a treadmill in the office? great way to make something out of otherwise useless confernece calls.

How much exercise do you plan to do? Is there a shower at your workplace? You and your office might just end up smellin' like sweaty balls all the time.

Could you really do a worthwhile workout in the office without coworkers or clients saying anything? Maybe I can't picture this because my office has a glass wall in the front and there are clients, etc walking around. You could some of those wrist grippers and crush away on those. Or kegel exercises, haha! I can't imagine a treadmill in the office, unless you are some CEO baller guy.

Doesn't sound like that great of an idea to be honest.

Try rubber resistance bands.

This is dumb. Take a break from work and go to the gym or something, otherwise you're going to be that weird guy who works out in his office.

You can do a few exercise without breaking sweat, you just can't do them at optimum intensity. You can target shoulders, chest, and triceps with pushups. You can do dips using a chair and desk to hit triceps as well. Body weight squats will hit your legs, and you can do them single legged to increase the intensity. Chin up bars are easy to put in place, so you can also work your back and biceps like that. You'll want to do laying leg raises in addition to sit ups for ab work. I've yet to find a reliable way to mimic dead lifts though...

Don't encourage this foolishness.

I keep a full weight set with olympic plates under my desk. I really need to post pics. When everyone goes home, my co-worker and I bang some sets out. When I get bored I'll do 30 pushups at my desk.

kinda strange, but legit. zen in the art of self-resistance.

one of my friends from school occasionally does pullups on the doors of empty classrooms when people aren't around. he's kind of weird, but he gets some amazing vag.

I'd recommend a pair of dumbbells and a Swiss ball. It takes up minimal space and you can do upper body exercises that are provide a nice change from bodyweight exercises (eg pushups etc.)
